Recently received a rifle from them in much worse shape. Packing material was removed from the box, so a locking piece for the receiver did a number on the contents (scratched up barrel and removed bluing, torn up owners manual, etc). FFL where I had it shipped was also shocked by the condition and is holding it. Contacted PSA last week, but their customer response time is pretty slow, so waiting to get a response.

Took a little over a week to hear back from them, but as of this week, they agreed to take the rifle back (that I left at the FFL) and replace it (a Ruger 10/22 Target Tactical originally ordered on May 7). They're sending a shipping label to the FFL, so I imagine that I might get new rifle in a couple of weeks. I'll update when/if this happens.

Although I like PSA for some of their specials (incl ammo), after this experience, for firearms that I can't find at my LGS, I'll likely from one of the quicker online vendors in the future. Faster communication with their customers would go a long way for PSA.

In my experience, Grabagun has maybe been the most consistent (e.g. ordered an Anschutz 22LR semi-automatic from them a couple weeks before the PSA order - and had a flawless in the box rifle from them within a few days). Centerfire, Landbos, and Kentucky Gun have been pretty fast too.

Also, as many know, for AR parts/accessories priced competitively or better than PSA, JoeBob is extremely fast and communicates well.

PSA is doing a gift card promo ($90 for $100 card). Anyone lurking for a PSA upper might want to buy four or five of these gift cards...I called PSA and they said they would consolidate the cards so that I can buy an upper.

So that's $40-$50 off whatever upper special comes down the pike.

I figure worst case I end up using the discount on ammo purchases.

As a follow up to my post two posts up (#301), PSA came through with a no hassle replacement of the damaged rifle that my FFL received from them. They immediately arranged a return through UPS, and after receiving the item, sent a new rifle. Received it on Tuesday (6/10), and no gouges or scratches this time.

at PSA, including a 16" PSA M4A1 that would just need a BCG/CH.

In case anyone else is looking. I'm trying to justify it and grab one...

I've got that same upper and it's a dandy for the price. The problem with PSA is every time I go to their site they suck even more out of my already-depleted wallet. Just ordered one of the NiB BCGs and a bunch of the $11.99 Blazer brass 124g 9mm. Best price I've seen on 9mm in a long time.

    (Edit to add price)

I picked one up last time they were this price (they've actually been down as low as 249 since). For the money I don't think you can beat it.

I also have the same upper, and it's a real shooter. I am very pleased with it's accuracy.

I'm torn between this PSA deal at $379. Midwest Industries SS12G2. 1:7 chrome lined quality FN barrel.

    http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/11395/category/4220/

or a similar upper at BCM for $618. Only discernible difference is mid-length gas system.

    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-16-Mid-Length-Upper-Receiver-MI-G2-p/bcm-urg-mid-16-mi-ssg212.htm

While I believe that you get what you pay for, the components are virtually identical. Am I really paying $250 (66%) more for better customer service and a BCM hat? I've seen some scary posts about "guerilla-like" assembly at PSA but most folks love their PSA gear....

I have a couple of PSA uppers and they have been perfect. BCM has a better reputation and (IMHO) will have a better resale value. But If you want to save money the PSA's are probably every bit as good as BCM, again, IMHO. Some will probably disagree.

Actualy - if you go the BCM route - get this one:

    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-...ength-Upper-p/bcm-urg-mid-16lw-bfh-ss12g2.htm

It's a cold hammer forged and light weight profile barrel. And with all due respect to folks who say a light weight barrel is not accurate - ********! You are not shooting full auto and the barrel is not going to heat up that much. It will be a light and handy rifle.

PSA also makes a similar upper (so called pencil profile). I have one and it is fantastic. That's what's on this rifle:
