I don't care who wins...I'm sure whoever it is will be a continuation of what we all currently live with. I expect 2015 to bring more taxes, an increase of the current taxes, more restrictive gun laws and probably some ownership bans, more "equality" laws (think bathroom bill)...etc.

We're jumping ship. My wife and I are looking at houses in WV and VA. On an unrelated note, if anyone is looking to buy a nice split level house in Silver Spring next year, I know a great one that will be going on the market.

Hate to ruin your day but a Republican is not winning the governor’s race this year. No way, no how. I know the “Let’s move” sentiment gets beaten to death but come September I am going to start applying to jobs in South Carolina. Life is too short to live in a high crime, high tax state which has freezing temperatures 1/3 of the year.

There are 2 Marylands. 21 counties will vote against Brown or Gansler.

3 counties will elect one of them governor.

Meh, your numbers are a misrepresentation. I know it sucks but land mass and population density are two different things. The actual numbers are more like this:

1,000 people will vote against Brown or Gansler. 10,000 will elect one of them governor.

I'm already on my way out to WV as it is but that is 9 months away so while I still have my votes I'm going to help as much as I can on the way out, but 3 counties have all the power feels too much like when I lived in NY.

I've seen poll data that shows Hogan can win in November.

But yeah, the question is, what are you going to do?

If one of the two dems wins, there isn't much I can do.

As stated before in several other threads, I have a long established, niche business located in the center of my service area, with many long-time customers. (I don't even advertise anymore.)

I'm too young to retire (not that I want to - I love my job!), and too old to "start over" somewhere else.

    I'm stuck.
    :(

My earliest possible retirement date is 1 June 2018. I have to hold out until then.

Unfortunately I've recently become locked into Maryland for better or worse. My family's question revolved around some medical conditions that are best handled when we have immediate access to Johns Hopkins. One of my children's lives was saved by the find staff there earlier this year which was a real eye-opener.

That said, I've changed my stance from GTFO (get the family out) to stand up and fight. Once dust has settled from the next couple of months of big changes, I'm intending to be a very loud obnoxious voice in MD with yard signs and attendance at all town halls with prepared questions and respectful belligerence. We'll see how that works out.

The personal problem I was dealing with was that if you put yourself on the skyline in a leftist state you are subject to punishment. I wasn't willing to put my family into that spot but now that we are staying there is no choice. I will have to teach them to understand and fight too...

    Welcome to the fight.

Brown will be no different than O'Malley, who was not different than Glendenning

And yes, short of something crazy coming out of left field, the Dem will easily win the general election.

Just more of the same. Is it enought to get me to move? No. I've lived under Dem govs and legislatures in this state nearly my whole life. I survived this long....

This used to be the case, but not anymore

My guess is Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Howard County, Montgomery County, Prince George's County, and Charles County will all go for the Dem. And of those the only close one will be Balt Co.

The politics of this state have shifted since Ehrlich won 21 of 24 counties unfortunately :sad20:

A May poll with a 5% margin of error showed Brown 42% and Hogan 35% with 23% undecided.

It's not the best odds, but it's not a guaranteed win either.

I'd like to agree with you buddy but I think 40% is about the top out point for any republican in a state wide race. The math just isn't there.

I lost all faith after the voters threw Ehrlich out after one term even though he had well over a 50% approval rating. Basically they said "we like him but we are still going to vote for the Democrat"
