You do know your rights have been infringed by popular vote. Toeing the line that MSI and the NRA says will get you no where. Any fight we can bring them we should

The referundum had a better chance then Craig ( or any Rebuplican ) getting elected Governor

Find a way to fund it. It costs 10's of millions to run a proper referendum. NRA won't do it. Where are you going to get the money?

No. 1000% wrong. The republicans have an excellent chance (of winning the gov) this year. All they really need to do is get republicans who voted in 2012 for Romney out to vote in 2014, and convert a (relative handful) of Democrats on fiscal issues.

The referendum is much harder. Not all republicans are pro-gun. The democrats who will swing to R on fiscal issues will not swing pro-gun. It could even damage the R chances of winning by motivating more Dems to come out and vote.

After 8 years of O'Malley I think this state is looking for a change. I think Hogan has an excellent chance at becoming governor because he has been very vocal on Facebook and Twitter for so long setting himself up as the "anit-O'Malley". I knew he was pro-2A but didn't know how committed he was. If he will allow self defense as G&S, then he gets my vote.

He is committed. We have a couple of good candidates for Governor. We need to pick the one with the best chance of winning.

I really like Hogan, Craig, and Lollar. It's a shame they have to start attacking each other in the primary. I don't want to see any of them damaged because they are all three strong candidates for many positions. I'd like to see Lollar run for congress again instead of fighting for governor.

vote for the R (probably Hogan). Hogan is looking to swing Dems on fiscal issues. I highly doubt you will get much on the 2A insofar as commitment because he does not want to turn off centrist dems. My expectations on that are very low. He will still have a largely Dem legislature. The best thing you can say is that he will be able to veto silly stuff, and repeal wasteful stuff like the shell casing requirement.

It's not realistic to think a SB281 repeal or G&S would make in through the legislature under any R governor. As much as I would like to believe it. The best you can hope for is incremental progress.

    Nothing against Hogan, but...

I'm still hearing nothing but "change" and "elect me" in his ads.

At least the other candidates are out in the community and making appearances to explain their positions.

I'm still leaning Craig, though any of them are better than we have now!!

"Shall Issue" doesn't require a public referendum.

Not even getting into the Constitutional hysteria and trouble it will cause...

All it would take to make MD "Shall Issue" is one letter from the Governor to the Secretary of State Police, indicating that "self defense" is now to be considered G&S

No need to overcomplicate this. Get people involved in the elections, then we have a chance.

    BINGO! You win the centerpiece.

It's increasingly likely that the SCOTUS will hear the New Jersey Drake case on carrying outside the home. The case went to conference last Friday and is listed for conference again this Friday. If they do hear it and we get a positive decision, all this discussion about re-interpreting G&S will be moot.

I merely point to the recent referendum regarding the obscene gerrymandering of MD election districts. The question was written in such a way that no one who was not fully aware of the issue could understand what they were voting for or against. The writers of the referendum were the folks who pushed the gerrymandering through the legislature, and they made sure that their plan would survive the vote.

And these are the folks who would be writing the referendum for shall-issue. Anyone who believes that we would succeed in this process is sadly mistaken. It would merely provide more ammunition for the gun-ban proponents. "See, 90% of the voters oppose blood in the streets!"

    "Question 5

    Referendum Petition
Congressional Districting Plan (Ch. 1 of the 2011 Special Session)

Establishes the boundaries for the State’s eight United States Congressional Districts based on recent census figures, as required by the United States Constitution.

    For the Referred Law
    Against the Referred Law"

64% voted for the referred law. The referred law was the gerrymander; wanna guess how many voters knew what they were voting for? You'll notice how informative the question was.

I don't want millions of crazy cat ladies voting on our 2A rights.

I can still see and hear that Whack-Job that showed up for that last hearing in Annapolis.

Her and her kind are what we're up against.

And it will be those types that get to have all the say in the wording of the referendum.

And of course there's the money aspect of it too.

Do you have a plan to prevent PG ,Montgomery and BC from voting this year. That is the only chance. Also not all Democrats are anti gun

Even if you go out and vote ( heck pull a democrat. vote early and vote often) you will not pull enough for governor

Dem turnout in mid cycle elections is low. The R does not need to WIN MoCo, PG, or Baltimore, just not lose too badly. Erlich did it. It can be done. Stop being a negative nellie and get your fat frog ass out and vote. ( I mean that in the nicest way ;) defeatism kills. )
