It was the republican party trying to make a noise in maryland.
while i was at the Fred show this weekend, i shook some hands that i've never heard of before.
Well just the fact that they showed up at a gun show and , well,.. they have my vote.
All said they were 2a and, well, that was enought for me.
with global warming and all, who knows, maybe there is a snowballs chance in hell....;)

I too, was intercepted before I could get in the door of the Gun Show in Frederick Sunday by Shelley Aloi, candidate for Lt. Governor with Ron George for Governor. She is an Alderman of Frederick City and former candidate for Mayor. George is a member of the House of Delegates from AA County. They say they represent "a new wing of the Maryland Republican Party" and are pro 2A and propose reductions in personal and corporate income tax rates along with a balanced State Budget with no new taxes.

This is one of four Gov/Lt. Gov combo's that Republican voters will have to sort out in the primary election this June. Talk about splintered party, Wow.

The Republican party in MD has always been splintered, but it is more splintered now, than it ever has been before. Also I wouldn't trust a current/former alderman/mayor for the City of Frederick.

I had the chance Sunday afternoon to meet and speak with Tim Robinson, the Republican candidate for State Senate in District 42... currently held by our dear friend :puke: Jim Brochin :puke:

Tim is a smart guy with great ideas and understands the Second Amendment.

Good luck to them, but I doubt they'll ever have any success on a state-wide basis.

The core values of the Republicans - smaller government, opposition to the welfare state - will never sell in Maryland, unfortunately. Even Reagan couldn't beat Carter here, and his economic policies were far worse than Bush 2 or Obama.

Maryland is too packed with government workers, government contractors, and the welfare dependent, to ever leave the Democrat fold.

I saw the writing on the wall, and moved away from the "D"ecaying areas years ago. At this point, I'm just biding my time until I can leave MD altogether.

The R Gov candidate (likely Hogan) has the same or better chance as Ehrlich in 2002. All it will take is for people to get out and vote.

I've noticed an energy in the MD republican party I haven't seen for a while. I think the competitive primary is really helping.

I think the million dollar question though is will that energy continue amounst the losers of the primary.

I think it's a case of several things coming together at once.

Tax abuse, gun rights, and social issues.

The fact that people are starting to make noise about all of these (and maybe moreso gun rights than the others) is getting people's attention.

So, we finally have the small components of something resembling a conservative movement in the state. Where it goes is completely dependent on groups keeping up the noise, and making their will known in the primaries.

Brown has enough baggage that he could end up with KKT type support. Although he will automatically get 90% support from certain quarters of the state regardless.

Hey, I was standing right there and saw it happen to you and Blaster229. :D Call me cynical but I have serious doubts about any MD politician regarding 2A until I do a lot more research about them. How many times has Obama claimed to support 2A? :lol2:

I hear ya brother. it was kind of like a fart in the wind, wasn't it?:innocent0

I see what you did there.

But to be blunt, yes. He is a Democrat, African American in Maryland. Of course I'll be labeled the racist for pointing it out.

We need to stop dancing around this stuff and playing the PC game. He is a black democrat. There now the effing communists can label me instead.
