No one is arguing against it being a "good idea". In fact, you'll see that theme reaching back for the last 9 years here.

What some are getting tired of is the preaching rhetoric from some that seem to believe that it would be better to not come at all if you're not going to look the part.

    That's nonsense.

you sir are a wise man.

when trying to get numbers of people together to do something and then preaching to them to be something they are not and then insulting them when they have questions...well that seems to be a poor plan. many here just want to prove themselves better than those they think less of, just like they proclaim the gubmint folks do.

my grandfather taught me when i was just a small child that you need to use tack and quiet talk when you are trying to get folks to do something.trying to get someone to do something by insulting them and their ways wont ever work. some folks here must no have had much of an upbringing, or a much different one than everyone i grew up with. its a shame to run folks off when trying to get large numbers to do something when it needs doing so bad. that same kinda stuff will cause folks not to vote and then we will surely lose what rights we have left.

    I think you're right.

I don't understand what's happened to the way people dress in public anymore, period. I saw a young girl wearing pajama bottoms in traffic court a few weeks ago. It used to be people would wear something decent to fly or go to church or attend a funeral or viewing. Now everyone feels entitled to be comfortable regardless of where they are. I don't get it. I think we are worse off as a society when we think more of ourselves than honoring or respecting an occasion. It's like we're becoming less civilized. People of Walmart is turning into the nation of Walmart.

i dont think it has anything to do with how folks are dressed. country folks dress as best they can, its how folks get talked to. when people say dress this way or dont come, what people i know hear is do what we say or dont come.

asking folks not to come is counter productive to getting large numbers to do something.

You make a great point, so just in case somebody missed it, no one is to wear want to be gang banger gear with your boxers hanging out and your pants down around your ankles, or lingerie as your street clothes at 2A Tuesday! :D

Seriously, you make a good point, first impressions and all, but I think its just a little off target. I don't think most here have any problem with camo, so its not a disrespect issue, rather its a recognition of the misguided perceptions of the audience and the unfortunate need to at least consider that. For me, I think the group's diversity gives us character and presence.

I think it's stupid to make anyone feel unwelcome, the success of this sort of thing is directly related to the number of people there.

Imagine if EVERYONE showed up in camo. And acted respectful. There would be no mistaking the cause or the numbers. :D

I'd love to see 100% solidarity, like a hi-viz yellow teeshirt over whatever you wore. Maybe with a huge "2A RIGHTS" or something on it. Buttons and pins are fine but a sea of one color give one message. We could argue over the color and logo for years....at least.

Redneck, yellow neck, black neck, brown neck, or no neck - we need bodies in the square and voters talking to their elected officials.

Now this I could get behind. It would be funny as hell. Use overly proper english. They would think they died and went to some redneck ivy league college. We could bring brie and chocolate and the glass stem ware from Bass Pro that looks like those red plastic picnic cups. They would just stand there scratching their heads. I can't stop laughing.

The flyers have all this information, and more.

Can you put it in one sentence here? Sorry I don't have a flyer. Only a couple of emails from MSI and AGC.

Is this the quote? I pulled this from the last email received from MSI on the event.

Why do we need to gather again this year?
Last year, we showed the General Assembly that Marylanders have a deep interest in their Second Amendment Rights, and are willing to stand up for them. We got their attention, but more is needed. If we back off now, it will be assumed we're good with the infringements of the so-called Firearm Safety Act of 2013 (and anything else they choose to push).

I have several times in this thread... but folks are taking the OP as if it was gospel.

    I'll rephrase...

This is about large numbers of respectable people looking and behaving respectably, and not helping the media find exactly what they want to paint gun owners as.

"Camo should be avoided..." is hardly a command, if that's what someone has that will keep them warm. But understand that it may draw unwanted attention.

Serious numbers regardless of attire! This has never been a wedding reception, and hopefully not a "funeral." I like the "all in" one color shirt for solidarity idea, but its obviously way too late to pull that off, and we should be happy with a big, diverse, turnout.

I am still advocating middle ground, use good judgment come as you feel comfortable under your circumstances, and as the weather dictates.

A large number of respectable people looking and behaving respectably. That's a lotta respect right there :D

The media will find what it seeks. That is a given. Even if they can't find it, they'll make it up. Last year, they said we were with the NRA, I was in the article and I am not NRA. I wasn't even MSI then. I was me. But given your idea, I guess I fit some embarrassing narrative they were trying to push.

Look what they do to the Tea Party. Heck, they even clean up their trash and they still make things up about them.

This year, I was just standing in the State House talking to a couple of folks from here and some media lady asked me what cause I was lobbying for, I told her 2A and next thing I know it's lights and cameras again.

We are all 2A Ambassadors. We all represent the cause. Camo, suits and everything in between.

well i guess you are quite correct in city folk thinking. dont worry bout me and my folks, we will just stay home and get some work done and just go about our disrespectful way. good luck to yall. but just think about the fact that most of the outlying counties have pro 2a reps and yall central md city folks have no control over yalls at all, keep up the good work. not that ours are perfect, they are not and some of them must go.
I'm not so sure we have our reps under control either. Middleton's voting record doesn't impress me very much
