It's great. I got the 9mm version for more rounds, less recoil, (and a lack of reported mag drops like the .40 has.) I wanted a compact pistol with a thumb safety so I had the option of enabling it.
Recoil is easy-breazy and the trigger is great. I put about 150 rounds of PMC through it.
Twice, with the slide locked back, I inserted a loaded magazine and racked the slide only to find that it didn't move forward and feed a round. I didn't investigate further, just dropped the mag, dropped the slide, inserted mag and racked the slide. I haven't heard of this being a model-specific issue, so I'll clean and oil and re-evaluate.
I was initially shooing everything to the left. My new progressive glasses weren't giving me a clear sight picture with my left-dominant eye. After 20 years, this right handed shooter switched to the non-dominant right eye and started shooting centered with everything in focus.
mag drops? sorry i'm still kinda new to the gun hobby/collecting, does that just mean the mag falls out of the gun while firing?
There were a number of reports on the S&W forum website that magazines were dropping out / falling out of the .40 calibre Shields during shooting sessions.
