Something like that is good but it needs to be moderated by someone technically trained or it will be dangerous.

Theres a couple of gunsmiths here that could do the job.

    Are you volunteering?

I was just suggesting it to the Mods/Admins for reasons of liability and to protect the membership from dangerous advice.

I was not volunteering. Something like that has to be decided by Don and Paul. If they approached me I would have to consider my posting style and compose my posts differently.

I would start adding material myself as well.

Similar to expectations that every photo of a new gun also show feet, I recommend that any video of a home gunsmithing project be filmed in a kitchen :D I'm looking forward to the how to make your shotgun barrel smaller series using hacksaws.

    my thoughts are:

If the "professional gunsmiths" want to assist thats all great!! But there alot of us here that have tingered with firearms just as a hobby and able to help others. I learn alot from Youtube but why not help each other when we can

Id imagine a disclaimer like "without actually seeing it and miking it out, doing such and such MIGHT be the cure." Would be enough to cover your ass.

I don't know if we need another section.

When I've had "home gunsmithing" questions, I've posted them in the Handgun/Rifle/Shotgun section. I figure that the folks who check the Handgun section may have had the same issue with their pistol.

Some Old Colts used a cylinder bushing. I am not sure if they can just be replaced or if they need to be fitted. Worn wheelguns are a particular problem because so many moving parts need to sync perfectly.

    anything else??

the whole reason I suggested this is I bought an OLD OLD Colt wheel gun and the cylender is a little loose, how do I tighten the action?

Depends on where its loose and how bad. I need a detailed description. Working on Colts is not something I can even do at home. Colt Revolvers require alot of skill to do right. They are such a pain I require $300.00 deposits to start working on one.
