I remember back in the day when they were $99 for 1, $89 if you bought 2 and $79 if you bought 3! I'm pretty sure they where unissued. I also remember when M1 Garand's were $150 - $200.

The mid-80s was a wonderful time to be a buyer of surplus arms.

Now gun buyers are offered bottom of the barrel rifles at premium prices.

If Trump would allow the US to be flooded with surplus arms again, the prices would drop overnight and the quality of the firearms would go up.

A simple signature on an executive order would solve this. And it would be in keeping with his promise to do everything he could for the 2nd amendment.

OK, I've seen worse! All of the numbers match from what I've seen so far. Not a lot of cosmoline.

Here's all of the rust I've found so far, but I can't get the stupid trigger guard thing to release, so the inside will have to wait.

I went over it with some Kroil.

    So far, so good.

    Arcamm,

You may already know this, but is case you don't the safety needs to be engaged to release the trigger group housing.

It's also a good idea to drop the magazine cover before releasing the trigger group housing.

And that's not a bad looking rifle for the price.

    Yes, I knew that.

But now I have to go check because I may have forgotten it. :whack:

    Arcamm,

Was this the Range grade, or one of the higher grades?

    Q

It is the range grade. Remember, I'm cheap.

OK, now that I have been reminded how to disassemble the rile, I got to the inside. Good news, no rust.

The barrel lug has a different number and it matches the electro-penciled numbers on the bolt parts.

The EP number is also written on the piston tube as well as the stamped number that matches all of the other stamped numbers.

At least the tramp stamp is in a decent location, under the barrel.

You're thinking of new Chinese Norinco SKS's....think they were new for like $75 back in the 90's
Unissued Yugo M59/66's never went below $149 unless you bought the whole crate. Lowest prices on those were around 2001 as I recall
I still had a C&R back then and I was on top of the prices.
