How many people on MDS you think there are that aren't previous handgun owners?

I realize I wasn't clear enough after reading more of the thread. I was thinking along the lines of teratos as he wrote below.

Out of the people approved so far, how many actually sent anything in? I have a MD CCW, so just clicked a few things and was done. I assume this is the case with most of the others?

Once a HQL is obtained why than go through another background check and 7 day wait period when purchasing a new toy?

because it seems - getting a HQL has ""nothing"" to do with background checks

it is just pay your money, get printed and fill out the paperwork - get a HQL

seems it has nothing to do with a background check - that comes when you put in the paperwork to buy a gun
    :innocent0

HQL - why bother doing a background check when anybody can own a HQL certificate that is just a piece of paper - worst you can do is ball it up and throw it at somebody

I guess you haven't seen the list of checks that are done.

I andy wife applied between 12:05 and 12:15 am. We fell in the 50-75 range, separated by 18.
When we applied for ccw, we sent both apps in the same envelope and got sequential numbers.

I don't know if the time you applied even mattered that much. I applied at about 12:30pm on 10/1 and my number is >180. My mom applied at 9pm that same night and hers is <165

So does the person who get HQL-2013-000666 get to buy evil black rifles? :lol2:

My number is just a couple off!

Went active within 24 hours of submitting the application. The fix, apparently, is in.

    1. Date Applied - 10/9
    2. Date it went Active - 10/10
    3. Date Card was received - TBD
    4. Training/ or exemption (if you feel comfortable) - prior regulated firearm

I really wanted number 666 (would have cerakoted a couple of mine burnt orange with a lava theme to comply) or number 1776. I'm >200 but <300.
