Please educate me on the Utah permit, I see classes for that allot but I don't ever plan to travel to Utah so I'm assuming it's recognized by other states? Does PA have a non resident permit?

Utah is recognized by a lot of states and is cheap to get by Mail. $65

PA you have to have one from your home state to get a non-res permit.

Just to expand on bnb's answer, I have a Utah CFP in addition to my PA LTCF. I frequently visit family in DE and DE honors the Utah permit, but not my PA license.

The big difference is that both DE and UT have similar requirements for training, PA does not.

The Utah Permit is valid for 31 States when held by a Maryland resident. While Maryland does not accept Utah's permit, every State that shares a common border with Maryland does.

Here's a link to Utah's web site for the full list. http://publicsafety.utah.gov/bci/FAQother.html Please note that if you click on each States name you will be directed to that States web site. Also note that several States do not accept a non-resident permit, but are listed as accepting the Utah permit. They are New Hampshire, Florida, Colorado, and Michigan.

To apply for Utah's Concealed Firearm Permit the applicant must take an approved course from a Utah Certified instructor. On average the course will cost $100.00 if taken in Maryland. The application fee for a non-resident is $65.00. The permit will be valid for 5 years and can be renewed for $15.00. At this time there is no requirement for further training to renew.

A Maryland resident is exempt from a new Utah law which requires non-resident applicants to have a permit from their home State. This is because Maryland does not have reciprocity nor do they recognize the Utah permit.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions about the Utah permit.

The two most common for MD residents to get are almost certainly UT or FL. Both have the most flexibility for visiting the most states.

I do have my Florida Non-Resident carry permit. It is very sad that I can legally carry in a majority of states except for my own Socialist Republic of Maryland.
I am totally bummed when I travel points south and I have to keep my sidearm unloaded and locked up and my ammo kept separately, locked up when I cross the bridge over the Potomac.
It is also frustrating traveling through South Carolina. Several years ago SC decided not to honor my permit if I do not own property in that state.
Basically, I can drive unrestricted throughout most of the south except for SC.
Come on Guys. You know this sucks and that it is based totally on revenue.
Lets get behind the basic RIGHT of the American Citizen to protect themselves throughout the country!

With my FL non-resident permit I have the same problem in SC. However SC does allow you to carry your gun in the glove compartment, so that's something.
