Speaking of fair shares, have you hired an attorney to get a few bucks from every idiot with an MD permit these days?

Also, do you accept PP/VM/Zelle? :)
Now, you'll remember the days that we spent more time dealing with the old guard who were quite literally taking gun owner donations and funneling it to their own pockets. They attacked us mercilessly as wreckers, dangerous ad interfering with "the plan".

The "plan" was them getting fat off of the community and we were bad for business.

It was sorta/kinda from the very beginning because there was a need for something more than an email list

In 2005, it wasn't as easy as now to have that kind of communication access.

It was before my time , but this was my understanding , and generally common knowledge back in the slightly later era .

Well, this poll kinda backfired on me. :o. I was hoping that there would be a lot more "Gun Show" responses so that I could say, "See how important the MSI booth is? AND, they need your help!" But that's not what happened :( (though it doesn't change the fact that they need help)
I'm not a statistics expert by any means, though I acknowledge that this data would certainly be skewed towards MDS as an answer...since it's posted on MDS.

But, even MDS looks like a crappy recruitment tool. Right now there are 32,908 MDS members and approximately 3,800 MSI members. Certainly, there are inactive and/or out of state MDS members, and MSI members who aren't MDS members. So...while the numbers are not super accurate, that still looks like a huge disparity.

It feels like out of every 8(ish) members of MDS, only 1 is a member of MSI? Sheesh!

I make flyers for my club house and make pocket size handouts for when we have club meetings. When I was shooting serious competitions, I would take handouts to USPSA, Trap, Sporting Clays, IDPA and NRA matches to hand out.

I also used to leave flyers at all the gun dealers in the State that I ran across that contained addresses and phone numbers of clubs, MSRPA, etc. Perhaps some younger folks would start something like that again.

Well, the poll IS on MDS so not surprising that the results skewed that way. There's plenty of gunowners in Maryland that never heard of MDS and have no idea what those A-Holes in Annapolis do every year.

Dad used to get Tripwire magazine when I was young. Jim Purtilo would shit talk MSI regularly. Years later I did my own research. Finally joined after Bruen

I can't remember the year, but Patrick was in his next to last year as President.
That would have been 2013. 2014 he was President, but not really active and left it all to the Vice-President to do. But at least he gave the VP and the board a heads up on his plans.

For better or worse (depending on your perspective) I'm on MDS and in MSI in large part due to @Mr H and @Biggfoot44.

Mr. H got me first at the Nation's Gun Show in Chantilly and I onboarded to MDS soon thereafter. At another Chantilly show I met Biggfoot44 and signed up with MSI at their table. Thanks gents!

I've been on the MSI email list for a long time, but it was my renewed interest in firearms and finding MDS that lead to me joining both.

    Open Holster Rally .

Found out about the event thru gun club newsletter.

That day was first I'd heard of MDS , and had probably been vaguely aware of MSI , but it was of minor profile compared to Purtillo, et al back then .

Thank you! But don't use your own resources to make your own! Get some from MSI at the next show or meeting. That's why we have them ;)
My LGS and range are both pretty well stocked with flyers. I don't know who is doing it, but it isn't always me...and that's great! :party29:

Absolutely. There are even MDS members who don't know either :sad20:

Still...if only one third of the MDS membership would join, Mark could speak for 10,000 voices in Annapolis.

Pretty sure MSI had a table at the Reese Fireman's Carnival back in 2008, which prompted me to join.

I figured you two veterans just kind of emerged from the ether with MSI at the very beginning!

They do indeed, sir. I have renewed my MSI membership at the table several times, chatted with our friend Biggfoot44 quite a bit, induced others to join, and tossed some folding money into the donation can a few times as well.

Ah, found a pic of a donation
