So been thinking about getting a Kimber Pro Carry II.

They make them blued, stainless, and two tone.

I don't understand the two tone thing and everyone's got them and a bunch of the guys I talk to love the way they look.

I don't quite understand it. Looks weird to me half blued and half stainless.

Personally I think the full stainless is sexy but nobody has it in stock.

    What you all think?

I agree with you that the stainless looks better.

Don't know if they offer it in that model, but pistols with dark frame and slide but stainless trigger, slide release and safety look good to me also.

Sig calls that style 'Nightmare'. Kimber has some, but I don't know if they have a name for it.

They probably drove two-tone cars in the 80s, I know I did!

It's a look that cycles in and out of fashion .

In the '70s , the fad was hard chroming the frame , with blued slide .

Two tones originated from building customized carry guns back in the day. Frames were hard chromed to resist corrosion. The carbon slides were blued to reduce possibility of glare when sighting. Substitute stainless for hard chrome ..and there you have it.

Revesrse two tones are said, by a few, to be ‘wrong’. I’ve never experienced glare off a stainless or hard chromed slide. So I call it a valid option.

Determine what you like, pick your poison, and buy it.

It's a rare two-tone that appeals to me. They almost always look like a vehicle that's sporting one quarter panel and a hood from a different color wrecker, but hey, it was cheap, right? It can really diminish the classic aesthetics of - for instance - a 1911 pattern pistol. The Frankenpistol cobbled-together look comes across as somebody's parts project, not an intentional vision by the designer/maker. Everybody's got their own taste, of course, so not picking on anybody. Um, unless you DO drive that old Caprice with a mismatched quarter panel, obviously.

I paid $20 for my Pro Carry II (NIB) a couple of years ago when Bud's auction site (e-gunner) still had penny auctions a few years ago. The upgraded grips (pictured) cost me more than the gun. It's a nice shooter, but absolutely hates Winchester white box.
