I have had my C&R for a while and only purchased 1 gun, the cz handgun.
I just got the renewal and don't really have a desire to renew it.

What happens if I let it lapse?
Is there something I need to do with the gun to re-register it?

    Nothing... well not quite true.

    1. You bank account will grow
    2. You'll start getting hives when new deals appear
    3. Your wife may smile.

You don't have to do anything about the gun you purchased and you can destroy your records.

I called ATF when I let mine expire and they said I could send my records to them. They had no real answer about what to do with them. This was pre-internet days and almost everything I ordered was not as described. I found the C&R FFL to be a pain in the a$$. My last purchase was an all matching with transport crate L42A1 from Navy Arms, still have that one.

They must have changed that policy:

Q: Are licensed collectors required to turn in their acquisition/disposition records to ATF if their collector’s license is not renewed or they discontinue their collecting activity?
No. The GCA requires the delivery of required records to the Government within 30 days after a firearm “business” is discontinued. A license as a collector of curios or relics does not authorize any business with respect to firearms. This is in contrast to firearm importers, manufacturers, and dealers who are licensed to engage in a firearms business. Therefore, the records required to be kept by licensed collectors under the law and regulations are not business records and are not required to be turned in to ATF when collectors’ licenses are not renewed or collecting activity under such licenses is discontinued.

This man knocks on your door and asks for your records. :lol2:
I got this image in a recent Botach email and it was so funny I had to swipe the photo to use here.
