... There is a large portion of government employees who are on "glorified welfare"...I've seen them, worked with and even once or twice for them. Their numbers (knucklehead per capita ratio) have spiked in this Administration. Blame the ******* politicians, not the legit and hardworking rest of the government workforce. It almost takes an act of congress to fire them or even to make them accountable on a daily basis. Get those rules changed, support managers who hold folks accountable and government employees can be a event value proposition for the taxpayer...
Only quoting you as a starting point, not because I think you are among the slackers.
I agree with what you've said but peer pressure is what needs to be applied. It does have an effect. I've seen it first hand among gov's.

Here's my question for the hardworking .gov's, what have you done to remove the glorified welfare recipients? Some of you work side by side with them on a daily basis and many here lament that fact but what have you done about it? When is the last time you said hey Joe get the **** up and do some work? When is the last time you reported some schmuck for time card fraud or ethically questionable behavior?

My brother is a vet and a fed and he does this on a regular basis. I am a contractor and even I do it.

When did we stop expecting people to do the right thing and accept the current state of affairs? Don't we owe a commitment to change this situation to those that have sacrificed to make this country what it is?

    "not my job"
    "I'm not a manager"
    "not my problem"
    "mind your own business"
    "going along to get along"
    "one person doesn't matter"
    "protecting my family"
    "just following orders"
    "be a team player"
    "don't rock the boat"
    "I'm getting mine"
and every other excuse I've heard for people not speaking up.

we have career professional politicians, whose number one job is to insure they have a job for the long term.

add to that a democratic party who decides which politician has a job and what they can and cannot do or say.

the people are like sled dogs - they're needed to serve a purpose

Maryland was a great place in the 1970 and 80's - then in the last 25 years, the state and the country has gone downhill.

Taking a cue from Sling Blade for a letter to the GA:

    Dear Nanny State Politicians,

I have some concerns as to proper toilet usage in the state of Maryland, especially as regards the health of the Chesapeake Bay. I would like your input on the proper foods and materials to use so I don't endanger the bay. Should I avoid chemical containing foods? If so, please ban them. How about GMO foods? If yes, please ban them. Are fast foods like Taco Bell acceptable? If not, please ban them. Is toilet paper alright or should I consider a bidet as more environmentally friendly? In both cases would scented or unscented be best? Please ban the bad stuff. This should also probably cover menstruation products, douches, birth control and masturbation; being male I will allow others to speak for feminine specific products. Should I flush used condoms or would that make the fish, crabs and oysters sick? If I shouldn't please enact another law. As to masturbation, are there any bay friendly lubricants out there? Kindly ban all harmful sexual lubricants. Now what do I do with the semen wipe? Do I flush it? Please advise since I masturbate an awful lot.

You see, we mere people cannot possibly be smart enough to figure these things out on our own without your obviously superior ideas on how to live our simple lives. Please take these issues with all seriousness. I will be visiting Annapolis next session and I fully expect Delegate Pendergrass from my district to take the lead in the Health & Government Operations Committee on these critical issues.

    Behind enemy lines...
Overload of leftist, nanny-state types in MoCo, PGCo, BaCo, Balt City

Also called SuperZips. These same Libtard zips are located all over the country. Geographically they are small. Politically they are HUGE. They have destroyed Maryland.....and it ain't gonna get any better.

Look at it this way. The USA ( and MD.) is a train on the wrong track, specifically,
Socialism/Communism. The only thing that will correct for the direction is......
    a TRAIN WRECK!!

A train wreck is a certainty at some point. Deep down, many of us hope for it despite the subsequent fallout.

The state of Maryland only cares about the criminals, that's what happened to it. When it comes to a concealed carry permit this state only cares about business owners, pharmacist, and doctor's. SB281 is suppose to stop gun violence and it appears more and more people are getting shot. Can any of our elected official's please give me and answer.

Pretty simple actually. Liberals happened. Just as with everything else that Liberals touch, it turns to shit, government included. No society was ever taken down by Conservative policies. Every society that has ever failed has failed due to Liberal policies. Liberals work their way in, and the beginning of the end has started. Move north!

I'm trying to figure out why Maryland has so many gun restrictions. The state, for the most part, is rural and I have to believe that firearms were kept in most households in years past.

Days long gone. The areas I used to hunt are now suburbs. Balto City & County, PG, Montgomery, Anne Arundel and Howard counties have enough population to disenfranchise the rest of the state.

It's a ONE Party system. McKeldin was the last Governor elected when there was a functional Republican party. Sprio only won because he ran against a guy who said "Your home is your castle" Ehrlich won because he ran against a carpet bagger, had the same problem as Obama, he could not muster any bipartisan support to do anything.

Education has gone to crap. Teachers are no longer WW2 vets or people who grew up on the farm. They aren't even children of those who did. There was a big shift to toward the left during the Vietnam war, followed by the rise of the "Self Esteem" theory of education.

The 2 major newspapers and most of the TV stations are liberal for the last 40 years. How do you reverse 40 years of propaganda?

People who are on the dole engage in tribal voting (100% for one party.) Government itself and those who work for companies dependent on the government are a huge special interest group. I know there are vets, who work for Northrup and are more inclined to be conservative and Republican, but for everyone of them, how many pencil and broom pushers, secretaries and managers came from a totally different environment?

School, workplace and marital tragedies are on the news everywhere. In a state where politicians think the government is the solution, the only solution, they are going to be inclined to be anti-gun.

Too many "Good Kids" and "my baby never been in trouble before" types shooting up lower east MD. So all these good parents that are there for their kids they all want gun control to keep their "Good Kids" Good, you know as a supplement to their great parenting skills.

^^^This^^^ to answer OP's question; and, I would add: very deliberate gerrymandering of the voting districts -- going back all the way to the late 60's and 70's (perhaps more than anything else explains, "What happened to MD?")

I remember Gladys Noon Spellman walking door-to-door and yard-to-yard to warn citizens in PG Co about it in the 60's. But, even then, she was up against the liberal sewer pipe running directly into every Washington Metro household . . . thing called the Washington Post (which goes back to the question, how do you reverse 40 years of leftist propaganda . . .). Answer for my family: MOVE. And try not to look back.

    Here's my take on why:

The democratic party has taken to adding anti-gun plank to their platform, the same way the GOP has taken anti-gay and abortion on theirs.

There is a group of people who will always vote for their party without thinking or caring about the issues. They vote for the dems and repeat the mantra about baby-killing-assault-clips because it's what their party says.

Most dems who are anti-gun that I have spoken to could never be pro-gun because that's what the Republicans are. To them it's more about their political identity than individual issues.

My parents are a good example, both will only ever vote democrat due to social issues. But when I talk with them about monetary policy they both agree we are being taxed too much and need smaller government. They are both lukewarm on gun issues but occasionally my mom repeats what the Dem party says. She never has a good rebuttal to my points just repeats because after all she is a democrat.

I think the Democratic party has done a great job of selling themselves as the party of Marylanders (or at least PG, MG and Baltimore city). They drive a wedge of hate and discontent (like what Obama says at every opportunity) between them and the Republican party.

How many of us would vote for Brown if today he declared being democrat but totally pro-gun (including unrestricted CCW). My guess is that most would still not vote for him because he is one of "them".
