After searching for most of the year I picked up a 12ga Mossberg 500 this weekend for $140. Pretty good score I'd say. It is in surprisingly good shape barring a split and reglued forend and one blemish on the top of the receiver. Biggest issue was this thing was absolutely filthy. Worst I've ever seen, probably never cleaned once in its' life. So I stripped it all the way down, scrubbed and lubed everything.

Plans are 20"bbl/extended mag tube, Magpul stock, ATI Talon forend, receiver rail. Maybe trigger work after that. I thought the mag tube would be difficult to remove but it was already loose. I'll update after my parts come in later this week.

    Could've gotten a BNIB 20" 8-shot model from Fred's during their fire-sale a few weekends ago.

But for $140 that isn't a bad acquisition, by any means.

Yeah good score. I scored one a few years ago and posted a thread about doing the mods. I tacticooled it up and then didn't like it so I moved it back to a field gun but with a vent rib barrel and blk stocks. Still have all original parts. Below is that thread.
BTW, if you read my thread about it you will read I mention a shotgun class at Delta. Well we had a class and then some fun shooting. While fun shooting my firing pin broke. I bought a new firing pin that was redesigned due to the poor design of the original.

I don't feel so bad altering it since I am keeping the wood furniture and shot barrel for waterfowl hunting. It's only a 10 or 15 minute conversion. The ATI forend is complete shit btw. Had to modify three spacers to get it to fit, plus one side rubs the receiver so I'll have to clearance it.

I have a Houge fore stock on mine, it fits great and has great grip. I would highly recommend it to you. It looks good though.
