I think, just my opinion, sometimes these classes, especially ones taught by military and law enforcement heavy instructor teams, gets very tactical very fast. While there is a place for that type training John or Jane Public need to be careful and not act like the police. It is valuable to learn and practice more advanced concepts with appropriate drills, but they should be appropriate for the students needs and situation.

I'm not bashing instructors with military or law enforcement backgrounds, heck I'd be happy to take a variety of training with a variety of instructors. I'm just saying, as always, research the course and do your best to get the training appropriate for you.
