Nope haven't lost their minds. You have to see it for what it really is a mental disorder. This is why it spreads like cancer and they infect others. This is a typical ploy to push control back into their hands. Just look at the gerrymandering that occurred last major election, they pushed out the only western republican.

Start contacting your critters now, and make them aware you're still paying attention. Let them know you will hold them accountable.

Alaska is a bit too cold for me, I would probably head south to VA, SC or possibly TX but I'm in the same boat. If I can find a way to make the jump to another state with the whole family in tow I will, until then I'm going to keep punching.

This, and the insistence that populations be as controllable as possible, and the move to encumber private property ownership and shift people into higher-density areas.

Taxes, tolls, fees, licensure, regulation... all are being ratcheted up to make activities they don't people engaging in so cumbersome and distasteful that we will give them up.
