Hey so I’m looking into a .22lr just for a cheap way to shoot at the range and came across this one. First things is first is this Maryland legal? Second do you recommend this? If it’s Maryland compliant am I able to just buy it online and pick it up at the store? I’m new to all this thanks.

I’ll post the link with all the specifications. Thanks

    I wouldn't... If I wanted an AR style, I'd get a S&W 15-22. If I wanted a good basic semi, I'd look at a Ruger 10-22. That's just me.

I second this. The 15-22 can use many AR parts and a basic 10-22 has tight groups out of the box. If you want to modify it, the 10-22 has the second largest aftermarket parts network.

The Hammerli has the worst trigger that ever existed. I have no idea how this can have the same name as a classic 208 is beyond me.
If you want a AR style .22, get a Tippman M4. Aluminum receiver, not plastic like the S&W
It also has a better stock trigger and accepts AR triggers and most other components

BTW, the Hammerli is MD legal. I usually try to find a gun locally before I buy online. The price with shipping and transfer is usually pretty close. This gun will probably be cheaper bought locally.

You order it online and give the info for your FFL to the seller. They ship it there. You fill out the paperwork, do the background check and take it home. Don't forget to notify your FFL prior to giving their name.

If Tippmann is going to make real guns, I want the same trigger that my old paintball partner had.

It would be nice if you would go to the introduction thread and tell us a little about yourself and what your shooting experience and interests are, it is considered polite. The second thing is when you ask for opinions about rifles or shotguns you should explain what your intended interests are for that particular gun because no single gun is the best for everything. There may be a or several "best" guns for a particular use but if you want to use it for several different activities you will need to make compromises so to get good advise you need to ask the right questions.

The Hammerli, the HK, and old Colt 22 are all EXACTLY the same gun. Made by Umarex for the respective companies with aesthetic changes. The RIA TM22 is a good choice for not a lot of money...I've also shot the Hammerli and honestly don't have a single bad thing to say about it. Complaining about cleaning a 22 is like complaining about cleaning black powder...if you don't like to clean, don't buy either.

I have the Rock River LAR-22 Tactical Carbine and love it. There is a polymer and aluminum version. There are a few other models as well. I bought the aluminum to be more similar to my other ARs. A friend of mine has the S&W 15-22 and its definitely a decent gun, but I didn't like that it was plastic.
