Just got my Vortex Spitfire in the mail today - so off to the range I went. I find the prism sight MUCH easier to use than a red dot. It's uses a 3 MOA dot and two concentric circles for a reticle. At 100 yards I easily was under 3" groupings. Red or Green illumination, although the reticle is visible without any illumination. The only 2 cons; it's a little heavy, and the co-witness has the front sight post fuzzy; so it's really like a scope. Still - for my astigmatism this thing is WAY MORE comfortable to shoot than my Aimpoint PRO.

Veddy nice. I didn't understand 1x scopes at first. Then I shot a scorpion Evo with a 1x leupold and it was like magic. :D

The fastest and most exciting sport out there. I nearly have a heart attack during the last 60 seconds of most games. Love the 3 on 3 overtimes.

I bought 2 on a PSA sale over Christmas. Love how nice they are and if the battery goes dead they still work..

OP-thanks for this post. I've been looking into this optic but couldn't find any real info on the actual reticle style. My Aimpoint PRO is sitting on my table with the RMA ready to ship back. Single dots don't work for me, but for someone with good eyes I think it would be a heck of an optic, built like a tank and a very nice built in mount. Now to find another sale on the Vortex.

I thought it was interesting until i saw it did not have unlimited eye relief.

That's a good point I should have mentioned. It does have nearly 4 " of eye relief but not unlimited. The thing that sold me is the dot is crisp; it does not look like a star.

[EDIT: 3.7" eye relief to be exact]

Actually the spitfire 3x with the 556 ballistic reticle is what I have. Not sure if there is mother version.
