Hey everyone, need a little clarification here.
I’ve read on MSI it’s illegal to carry in a “Video Lottery Facility” however the definition attached aren’t clear to me.

I plan on having a date night at restaurant on a casino property. We have no intention of gambling, drinking alcoholic beverages or even partying. Just going for the apps and main entrees! Since the restaurant is on the property does it fall under “video lottery facilities”? I’m not sure where in the casino the restaurant is at but if you’re in an area where there’s no video lottery or slots does it make it perfectly legal?
I’m in no way trying to push my luck and would rather just go somewhere else but now I’m genuinely curious if I would be breaking any laws?
Thanks In advance for everyone input.

This thread comes up in a search on the forum for MGM and carry. So what did you decide here? Wife wants to visit MGM for a show tomorrow and then walk around National Harbor. That seems like somewhere I don’t want to go unarmed. I think I’m screwed here for 1) show 2) casino. I’m not too keen on locking it in a vehicle while in the casino theater area before heading over to National Harbor.

MGM and National Harbor is fine. I never carry there.
MGM is not a walk from National. So I hope you're not planning that. Uber over to MGM from the main part of national harbor where the restaurants and hotels are.

I’m surprised to hear that you never carry there. I’ve been there dozens and dozens of times (Harbor, not the casino) and not needed it but that doesn’t mean I won’t next time. Sure it’s extremely unlikely but in a place where criminals have more rights than I do…

Thanks for the point on the distance, I wasn’t planning to walk between the two.

I’m still interested to know the legalities here if I don’t enter the casino floor.

I take my life in my own hands. And that to me sometimes means not to carry and live life. 99% of my self defense plan is awareness and avoidance.
I stay at the AC hotel and limit my walking to just a few blocks down to Schmick's, Rosa Mexicano or down to Bond 45. Inside MGM is safe and I don't think an UBER ride is going to be an issue. But I am always prepared to strangle a driver with his seatbelt :)

I went to different casino in MD that’s next to the mall and decided to lock up in car safe just incase. Just not worth losing my license and facing criminal charges. To enter the casino there were detectors you walk through however they did not go off so I questioned if they actually work because I totally forgot to leave my spare mag that was in my coat pocket. Also someone forgot they had not one but two pocket knife in their purse which didn’t get checked. I think that’s crazy because that’s how she normally carries.

But to answer your questions technically you can’t carry past the entrance/ID check point at the casino. So any restaurants or shows that requires you to walk through the casino floor is a no go for me.

Also any place you don’t feel comfortable unarmed is a good place to avoid all together regardless.

Thanks, looks like plans are canceled but good info nonetheless. I agree that you probably shouldn’t even go anywhere you're not comfortable unarmed but for me I’d rather just be armed everywhere and will actively avoid places I can’t be, whenever reasonable.

since it’s illegal to carry inside md casino I feel like I’m back to the days when we didn’t even have one. WV will now have all my business back.

Decided to treat my parents to little trip to Hollywood casino. Check the law and didn’t see anything saying I couldn’t, went inside prepared to go back and unarmed myself. Nope, no signs, no metal detectors, no issues. Just a guy making sure no under age kids getting on the casino floor. The wife and I enjoyed a nice dinner while my parents gamble away. Only thing I’m upset about is losing $20 to those slot machines lol.
