    1. Note about this alert

The massive influx of articles on things going on with guns continues to flood in. This was a shorter alert to get some of the items out to you as quickly as possible.
There will be a much larger alert in the next day or two covering all kinds of things, from an “agreement on a framework for gun control” in the Senate, to a recentattempted school shooting that the media doesn’t want you to know about.

    2. VCDL’s Candidate Survey results for next Tuesday’s primaries

On Tuesday, June 21, the Democrat & Republican parties are choosing their nominees for five US House of Representatives districts, two City Council races, and one County Supervisor race.
VCDL has surveyed all the candidates running in these Primaries.
Unfortunately, none of the Democrat candidates answered the VCDL Federal Candidate Survey.
The survey questions can be found at:

For candidate contact info and to see who has answered the Survey along with a qualitative assessment of how they answered, go to:

It's important to note that this qualitative assessment describes HOW THE CANDIDATE ANSWERED THE SURVEY and is NOT an overall assessment of the candidate.
Please contact the candidates in YOUR district who have not answered the VCDL Candidate Survey and politely, but firmly, insist that they complete the VCDL survey and send it in immediately. If they have misplaced their survey, they can download a copy at:

If one or more of the candidates in your district answered the VCDL survey, please contact them and thank them for returning the survey, especially if they responded, "Very Pro-Gun".
    -
Not sure what District you're in? You can find out at: http://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/
    -
If any of the candidates are afraid to take a public stand on these issues now, BEFORE the election, then they are unlikely to be very responsive to your views AFTER the election.
Failure to return a completed survey frequently indicates indifference, if not outright hostility, toward the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
    Thanks for your help, VCDL!

    3. The Virginia Department of Forestry is fixing signs/website to clarify open and concealed carry is legal

Randy Kyner, with the Virginia Department of Forestry, contacted me to let me know that the issue of wording on State Forest signs and on the State Forest website has been resolved. The website’s wording is now corrected to indicate that the carry of handguns in State Forests is now legal at all times, either concealed or open. The various existing State Forest signs are being modified for now by painting over incorrect wording. The correct wording will be included on all new signs going forward.
I was pleased by the professionalism that was shown by the Department of Forestry during our interactions on this issue. They investigated and acknowledged that the wording on their website and Forest signs was wrong, took responsibility, and then immediately worked on correcting the mistake. That’s how it’s done.
Should a Forest ranger incorrectly challenge you on carrying a handgun in the Forest, just comply and immediately contact me: president@vcdl.org. I seriously doubt that this will happen, however.

    4. Volunteers needed: VCDL table at Hampton Gun Show

There is a gun show in the Hampton Convention Center on June 25-26, 2022.
Anyone wishing to volunteer for a shift at the table should email Bryan Dunn, Hampton Gun Show Coordinator - gunshows.hampton@vcdl.org or text Bryan at 757-870-5403.

Let Bryan know which shift and which day you are available to volunteer.
No experience necessary! Just come out and have some fun talking to people about the VCDL.

    Shift Schedule:

    SATURDAY 25TH
    PM (1 pm – 5 pm) (3 volunteers needed)

    SUNDAY 26TH
    AM (10 am – 1 pm) (3 volunteers needed)
    PM (1 pm – 4 pm) (2 volunteers needed)

Thanks in advance to all who help out! VCDL could not do what we do without you.

There will be food trucks or concessions, music, refreshments, activities, games and trivia. VCDL’s president will be one of the speakers. He will be speaking at 12:30 pm.

You are encouraged to enjoy the food, music and festivities.
    Please reply to gunshows.richmond@vcdl.org

    6. 2022-2023 VCDL Carry Cards

The VCDL Carry Cards, identifying where in Virginia carrying of firearms is legal (on the front) and the locations where carry is prohibited (on the back), typically come out in early July, once all of the new laws have gone into effect and we have had a chance to get the new cards printed.

If you would like between 1 and 10 newly revised Carry Cards, as fast as we can get them to you, send a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) and your most generous contribution to:

    VCDL Carry Card
    c/o VCDL Fulfillment Center
    PO Box 254
    Garrisonville, VA 22463

Make checks for any contribution payable to: VCDL or VCDL-PAC (whichever you see fit to contribute to)

    Please enclose a note with:

    1) the number of cards desired

    2) an email address and phone number in case there are issues with the mailing, and

    3) if you prefer NOT to have a "Guns Save Lives" sticker affixed to your return envelope.

Your SASE with an orange "Guns Save Lives" sticker (unless you opt out of the sticker) and the requested Carry Cards will be sent to you as soon as the cards are available.

NOTE! If you are making a VCDL-PAC donation, we are required to keep the information requested below, BUT know that your information only goes into our records UNLESS you exceed $100 in donations in the same calendar year (think $100.01 or more).
