And coverage of the Katie Couric debacle continues to grow.

I am to be interviewed on Fox News. More details when I have them tomorrow.

The Washington Post did a particularly good job of holding Katie responsible. The article even covers emails I had with Katie’s second-in-command over the deceptive editing (sorry no time to do short URLs):

She was a morning show anchor forever and after a 5 minute impromptu interview of President Bush she was suddenly considered a hard nosed journalist. Not sure what people expected. She's a hack. She's always been a liberal, and much like a hot fart, can never be trusted.

I would like to see the Demoncrats asked the following question.

“If there are no background checks for [voter registration], how do you prevent felons or terrorist from walking into, say, a [polling place] and [casting a vote]?”

Somebody needs to start throwing this stuff right back into their faces!
The thing is, the Dems have no problem with felons, terrorists, the dead, and repeat voters voting. They may not admit it in public, but they're all for that kind of stuff.

That's good, but compare the platforms and audiences.
Less than 1% of the people taking in Couric's version will ever learn the truth.
Never play nice with people who hate you.
And yet, she's getting hit from all over, internet, tv, newspapers. Who knows, she might end up becoming the next Brian Williams.

Time to man up Katie. So will we she acknowledge the deception, apologize, and take a suspension like Brian Williams? Or just lie more, and throw her staff under the bus, like Hillary?

This being about guns, I doubt that anything will be done to her. She'll just be allowed to continue on like a black widow spider lurking for another victim to try and devour. Similar to Piers Morgan except his show's low ratings simply got in the way.

Regarding guns and the second amendment, anything goes with the leftists. They continue to sell their soul to get what they want. I'd bet that Bloomberg is sitting somewhere slamming his fist saying "darn it, they taped it.....sheeeesh"

WashingtonPost.com picked it up ... and Eric Wemple eat's Couric's and Atlas Films collective lunches.

Audiotape: Katie Couric documentary falsely depicts gun supporters as ‘idiots’

Here’s how Kristin Lazure, a producer at Atlas Films. handled that concern: “I’m truly sorry to hear you were disappointed with the final product. We knew when we set out to make a film on such a divisive issue that we weren’t going to make everybody happy. However, we have heard from many gun owners following our screenings and the television premiere who felt we gave the issue a balanced look and reflected their views accurately.” That response, of course, doesn’t address the issue raised by Van Cleave, which he noted forcefully in his reply: “It’s not a ‘feeling’ – the 8 seconds of silence from gun owners shown after the question about felons is inexcusable. Within 1 or 2 seconds members responded to that question – like I said I have the proof. That edit actually changed the answer members gave to the question. Worse, that deception was intentional.”

Moments ago, the film’s people released this statement from Soechtig:

“There are a wide range of views expressed in the film. My intention was to provide a pause for the viewer to have a moment to consider this important question before presenting the facts on Americans’ opinions on background checks. I never intended to make anyone look bad and I apologize if anyone felt that way.”
    :wtf::wtf::wtf:

Here the Erik Wemple Blog stroke our gray beard and reflect: In the years we’ve covered and watched media organizations, we’ve scarcely seen a thinner, more weaselly excuse than the one in the block above. For starters, it appears to count as an admission that this segment of the documentary was edited. The artistic “pause” provides the viewer not a “moment to consider this important question”; it provides viewers a moment to lower their estimation of gun owners. That’s it. As far as the rest of the statement, adults in 2016 may no longer write the phrase “apologize if anyone felt that way” and preserve their standing as professionals. To compound matters,

here’s the accompanying statement from Couric:

“I support Stephanie’s statement and am very proud of the film.”
That, from the Katie Couric of Yahoo News, of “CBS Evening News,” of “60 Minutes,” of the “Today” show and so on.

Many of those who sampled the discrepancy between the video and the audiotape were already enraged by the depiction of these gun owners. The statements from Soechtig and Couric will surely intensify the backlash, as well they should. An apology, retraction, re-editing, whatever it is that filmmakers do to make amends — all of it needs to happen here.

But, in the Michael Moore genre and tradition (who most likely will come to their defense), they will continue to double-down unless WE refuse to drop our outrage. Maybe they should have included a staged mass murder for effect ... the equivalent of NBC's exploding GMC pickup.

Bravo Eric Wemple ... it looks like WaPo managed just a weebit of integrity this time.

It must have been raised, but I haven't read the whole thread.

Couric asked, “If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorist from walking into, say, a licensed gun dealer and purchasing a gun?”

It's a hypothetical with a false premise, because licensed gun dealers DO conduct background checks.

In the course of those checks, felons and terrorists with records will be disapproved.

    Right?

    Right?

Theoretically yes. Providing state agencies (such as MSP's failure to enter the MoCo shooters information correctly) do their job properly, yes if a felon attempts to purchase a firearm with their legitimitate gov't issued ID then they will be disapproved.

Terrorists I'm not so sure as the Terror Watch List is a secret list and it's currently unknown if its information is entered into NICS.

    deceitful ABC News

The title of thread is not accurate. VCDL did what all patriotic citizens should do - Confront lies with facts and defend the constitution to emotionally driven, fact fearing, anti-Second Amendment liberals.

Instead the thread should correctly be titled: ABC News and Katie Curic deceive their viewers and the American public.
