Made a trip up to Woodbine Saturday morning to look at, and buy a couple new shotguns. Had always wanted some "older" Remingtin 870's, and Brian at South Carroll Sporting Goods had a fair amount of LE trade ins.
Decided to get one Wingmaster, and one Police Magnum. Plan to TRY my luck at redoing the wood on both. The Wingmaster's wood is painted black, but the Magnum's wood isn't too bad at all.
I actually had a used, real decent "Police" stock for it, delivered to me today.
Alphabrew found some info on the history of the Wingmasters
My Wingmaster is stamped:
Receiver: SxxxxxxV (S=1968-1974, V=2.75" shells)
Barrel: B W
Receiver is also stamped: BDE-7
If I am decoding it correctly, it is a January 1972 model, from Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (BDE-7)
The Police Magnum is stamped:
Receiver: BxxxxxxM (B=1994-1996, M=3" shells)
Barrel: L Q (also has what looks like an 0 4 as well?)
Appears to be made in February 1996
One of the last ones Brian at South Carroll Sporting Goods, still has, still has a sticker saying the same
I'm already 2nd guessing my decision to strip the black paint off of the Wingmaster...the more I look at it, the more badass it looks, imo...
