I did a search and didn’t find an answer to my question which is,
Q - if I am a NC resident and my 17yoa grandchild lives in MD, can I use a MD FFL to transfer a .22 rifle and pump shotgun to my grandchild’s other grandfather who is a eligible (non-prohibited / not disapproved) MD resident?
Second question: did or did not MD recenly raise the age from 18yoa to 21yoa at which an individual can purchase / take transfer via an FFL of a .22 rifle or pump shotgun?
Background: Over the years, I have purchased several .22 rifles and pump shotguns for our grandchildren to use when they visit here in NC; however;
one is now 17yoa and is hunting there in MD A LOT and the time is nigh for their .22 rifles and shotgun to be there in MD …
The grandchild in question will be 18 yoa come May, 2024 but, because I seem to recall MD raising the minimum age to 21yoa, the best way I can figure to LEGALLY transfer the .22 rifle and pump shotgun to MD is to transfer them to the other grandparent there who is a MD resident …
Am I missing anything?
(There are ZERO concerns about the other grandparent being eligible or pulling anything sneaky … and the grandchild’s single parent is brainwashed into total intimidation over the suggestion they fill out any Federal paperwork or State applications )
Thanks in advance …
