****You're not wrong. McCarthy had his issues for sure but was largely correct about communist infiltration, etc.. I don't think this is mentioned in school all that much as it does not fit the narrative that he was just a crazy right wing loon who dressed in womens clothing, was gay, and was an alcoholic, etc... Basically discrediting the man by making him out to be some kind of freak, and not really addressing the fundamentals of his arguments which had more than just some merit.
