So if a guy who knows little to nothing about AK-47's wants to buy a budget-priced model that is of good enough quality, and isn't into modifications, what should he look at getting? Thanks.

Prettiest ak I've ever seen. Hopefully one day sooner then later I'm going to have ons that looks identical. Awesome job.

    Mak90 or a any Maadi that's not MISR90 or MISR10...both are @ $500 and VG AK!

Ah heck a dumbhole misr was my first AK, subsequently gave it to my father before moving to Marylandstan.

Cant say it was hugely accurate or awesome, the finish sucked, but it never failed and did ok. At the right price they are not bad $350 to $450ish

I agree....worst you can say about the MISR is the finish. its affordable and its its all an Egyptian Import.

Where is the best place to pick up an AK in the DC - Balt beltway area ?

Inner city baltimore, behind the BGE plant.

Kidding, getting a good AK is an art. You can roll the dice on a WASR like the MISR mentioned above they usually work out alright. You can buy one of the high buck ones (ARSENAL) through your FFL, or you can cruise the shops and gunbroker for good purchases. Generally the Norinco, FEG, and Polytech guns can be found at fair prices if you are patient. Just passed on a Mak91 milled for $720 on GB used in box, killed me not to bid higher but a little broke right now.

Same guy had a milled mak 90 that went for about $650, I wish I had only had the dough to snap them up.
