Some of the red area appears to be "flash or trees" from the forming process. The red stuff in the trigger well will have to be cut out.

There is no mill required with the polymer 80 lower as they furnish you with a jig and a hand drill and dremel tool will work just fine to finish the lower.

Regrettably I asked for and received a refund today. I just cant ( don't want to) take the chance for a post Oct 1 delivery.

These appear to be honorable folks. I hope they thrive. I will still watch the company as new, MD legal, products are developed.

Good luck to you David and Loran

I am still not seeing where it says you shall not manufacture for personal use. it only says " a person may not manufacture for distribution" . The "for distribution" part is the kicker. As long as you don't sell it your fine that would be "for distribution". making it for yourself seems to be to be just fine. Im not too worried about this.

§ 5-406. Manufacture or sale of handguns
    (a) Prohibitions. --
    (1) Except as provided in § 5-402 of this subtitle, a person may not manufacture for distribution or sale a handgun that is not included on the handgun roster in the State.
    (2) A person may not sell or offer for sale in the State a handgun manufactured after January 1, 1985, that is not included on the handgun roster.

Because after Oct.1, "assault rifles" are illegal (minus the Colt Sportster IIRC).

According to the ATF, right now, it's a plastic paperweight. When you start drilling holes, it's considered a firearm. Hence, if you drill the lower AFTER the first, it makes it an "assault rifle", and also illegal in MD.

That's the issue people, myself included, are having.

I'm going to assume that if/when Polymer80 comes out with poly 80% AR-10 lowers, those won't face a similar problem. What about their plans for the poly 80% 1911 frames?

This. Poly is advocating that you break the law.

Maybe he isn't telling you to build an ar after 10/1.

Just remember that while poly is probably a great guy, he's a businessman and does not know Maryland law. Watch out for yourselves folks. Turning that paperweight into a receiver after 10/1 will land you in jail.

Ok. Maybe I misread this. OP asked if he would ship after 10/1.

And this. I misunderstood what this meant too.

occbrian, I don't know you, but I want to congratulate you on being classy about this. Some people would have left that out there, but you came back and stood up to it.

Maybe I'm being hokey or something, but I love seeing people do the right thing. Thanks for the smile!

That still remains to be seen... What is and is not legal remains to be adjudicated.
