Getting the urge for a new handgun.
    I currently only have 1 .45 in my collection & it's a Kimber Warrior

So I was looking for a non-1911 .45 to add to the collection.

I don't own any Hk's or Spingfields yet
I am a left and prefer guns that have ambi-controls
    I own a Smith & Wesson 645.It is stainless steel.5 in barrel large frame.It ROCKS!The recoil is not bad.My 2 cents.

I used to have a USP 45 and loved it, I handled a HK45 a week or two ago at the Chantilly gun show. HK managed to take the brick out of the grip.

I would also consider a Ruger p90 .45 and CZ 97 (?) .45 to the possible list as less popular but good reputation .45's to consider.

The .45 acp wheelguns are mighty tempting too, but that could draw you into the temptation for .45 colt (.45 LC), which is a different .45 animal wih some heavier and hotter loads available.

A couple of weeks ago I had an opportunity to shoot three polymer .45's at a gun shop. I loved the Glock 21sf. It shot really well, and was the most accurate of the three for me. Next I fired the XD. Hated it. Found the trigger to be terrible and it was the least accurate. I also had trouble racking the slide. I found that my hands kept slipping on the side of the slide. This was not something I had ever experienced before on any pistol. If my hands had been the least bit wet or sweaty it would've been terrible. Lastly I fired the M&P. I rated that somewhere between the two. Didn’t hate it, didn't love it like the Glock. Trigger much better than the XD.

Now a couple of things to bear in mind: all three of the guns were rentals so I have no idea of the round count etc; I had never fired any of these three models before however I have fired and do own Glocks so take this for what it is worth.

That, right there, will be my next non-1911 45.

yup great trigger, accurate as anything you can find, reliable, ambi-controls, holds 15, interchangeable backstrap, holds 15, made in america, sexy lookin, not too expensive....fnp45's...hotness!

I sort of would like to go with a brand i don't own yet.

    I already have a Glock & Sig in 9mm and an M&P in .40
I do really like the Glock and M&P (still not in love with the sig)

    I don't own any
    Springfields
    H&K's
    & I don't have any FNH handguns (i do have an fs2000 and a ps90)

    Any body shot all 3 - XD .45, HK45, & FNH .45
    that can compare the 3

my vote goes to anything HK or glock.

the FNP's iv'e seen come through here are nice too and not too pricey.

i personally don't see the big whoop about the XD. not that im bashing it, i just think there are better things out for the money and the triggers arent the best but not the worst. but iv'e heard alot of good things on them.

There was basically 3 things that made me go with the FN

    - Completely Ambi controls - which HK & Glock usually lack
    - 15 Rounds of .45!
    - Feels good in my hand

I had never heard of FNP until reviewing this thread. Don't know much about them.
