Have nothing but good to say about Spyderco and Benchmade. Seems like the Spydercos hold an edge just a tad better, but I prefer the opening mechanisms on Benchmades.
Spyderco Native, love this knife.
How about the sub $20 price point? I've been ED carrying a kershaw OSO Sweet for about a year now. It's a good knife at a great price. SMG still has them for $17.99 and they frequently have free shipping or $10 off promotions.

I switch between a Kershaw Leek, Kershaw Blur and a SOG Trident Tanto
Have nothing but good things to say about any of them
I had a Spyderco, but ended up with a Leatherman Sidekick. It's actually retained it's sharpness on the bladed bits better than the spyderco did, and I do stupid crap like prying things up with things that are not made for prying.
Right around $100 will her you a Benchmade Griptilian, also a very fine knife.
