Starting to be trout time

I was feeling them out at Bass Pro. I was just looking at the $50 Ugly Stik combos. I liked the ultra light but also the medium. I guess I could just get both.

A friend of mine fished the Gunpowder in Sparks yesterday.He caught nothing.Water is clear but running high and and fast.Do you think the trout are still there with lockjaw or did they wind up in Loch Raven?

I fished a couple sections of Little Falls yesterday and Friday. Nothing yesterday and two hook-ups on Friday, but I lost them both. Guess that's what I get for fishing barbless...

Last weekend, all I could catch were a few little native browns, all under 8". I can't seem to find any of the stocked fish.

The stocked fish are scared and hiding under the rocks. There have been a lot of people throwing all kinds of stuff at them. It was high, muddy and fast on monday and the fishing was very good. I can't figure it out. The chubbs have started to bite. I might go out tonight or take the kids to the pond.

Learned a lot this year. I took off this week so I could fish everyday. Met a few old timers down there that taught me a ton.

1. Throw the whole thing of power bait in the stream, not worth 2 cents
2. Live bait, bigger is better especially earth worms
3. They are not always in the holes
4. nice slow retrieve, feel the bottom
5. Well that is a secret, but glad the guy shard it with me I just cannot believe it filled a 5 gallon bucket with trout
6. Barbless hooks lost me 5 nice trout this year. Oh well.

Caught a nice rainbow tonight. Saw quite a few of biguns, not biting on anything. Going back in the AM. Gonna get those suckers.

I hate to admit this but,I have been trout fishing four times this year and only caught one small brown.I am jinxed or something.

no, Trout are some pain in the assssss fish. Give me bluegill,crappie,bass and a few cats and I am happy.

I will confess to only landing one fallfish (AKA creek chub) so far this season (#14 BH hare's ear). Plus wrestling one unknown fish that broke my 4x tippet (knot failure?) and made off with my woolly bugger. That is it.

well the trout gods finally smiled for me.I went turkey hunting in western Md......which sucked by the way.I trout fished three days in a row and each day caught three of the biggest trout I have ever caught in my life.
Day 1 18 inch rainbow
Day 2 17 inch brown
Day 3 19 inch rainbow
all in Flintstones Creek which I have fished in 5 years and never caught anything but the usual sized stocked trout.

I've fished for at least a couple hours almost every weekend since the beginning of March with pretty good success. I haven't been able to get into any of the stocked rainbows, and I like to leave the wild browns, so no eating yet this year, but I'm having fun. A few pics from the last couple months:
