Tomorrow, September 11th, 2013, when I go to work, my Spyderco D'Allara Rescue will ride in my left pocket as a one day replacement for my usual duty knife. The D'Allara is named in memory of one of New York's Finest, Officer John D'Allara. John was assigned to Squad 2 of the Emergency Services Unit and was a long time fan and collector of Spyderco knives. Spyderco learned of his death and named their then new Rescue in his honor.

The little that we know for sure indicate that he was on his second or third trip in to the second tower when it came down. I carry this on 9-11 in memory of every brave person that rose to the challenge that day and went in when every fiber of their being told them to run away. Rest in Peace John, and every hero that lived up to the highest ideas of their oath that terrible day.

I pull one out every 9/11...I'm not going to carry it would prefer to pass it down through the family.

Ah, the commemorative, VERY nice. They turn upon Ebay every so often but I just don't have the coin that they command.

I originally bought a Syderco rescue as my diving knife. I figured it would be useful for cutting myself out of fishing line but would not puncture anything vital.
