I am planning to start shooting my BP firearms again but I need the basics. All I own are percussion so I need caps, #10/#11 and musket, and either 3F or 2F BP. I've still have all the cleaning gear, spotting scopes, range rods and such.

It has been 30+ years since I bought BP at a NSSA skirmish so I imagine things are a little different now.

Is there a place to buy BP in/near Frederick, MD? I don't mind driving a bit but don't want to drive for hours.

Are there any better BP substitutes these days than Pyrodex? A substitute needs to be capable of reliable ignition with percussion caps since all my guns are replicas.

Brad Vosburgh runs a BP shop just north of westminster called brownstone trading.

He comes to the Frederick shows frequently.

    Shamr0k,
Westminster works for me. That is a little less and a half-hour away. I'll have to head up there next weekend and check Brownstone Trading.

    weaponscollector,
I'll give the 777 a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

Call first. IIRC, the shop is out at his house so I don't know if he has regular hours or maybe at a local show.
