The Colt-style magwell inserts use the existing mag release. This is well and good, except that the mag well makes the well thicker and the release is not able to engage as far into the magazine. My 32 round mag was falling out with my MILSPEC mag release. I found an ambidextrous mag release from CMMG that solves this problem.
