I was there with a friend (with thousands of other peaceful Maryland gun owners) in Annapolis on February 6th, but I came away confused about the outcome. What bills were passed/failed? I would like to thank everyone that came that day, I plan on attending March 5th as well (hoping to testify).

It was a hearing, not a vote. The goal was to allow the citizens to go on the record with their testimony either for or against the 4 bills listed. The consensus is that the entire panel has already made up their minds if they support or oppose the bills, but we were sending a message that the people are wholly opposed (100 to 1) and that if they trample our rights, we're going to act through the courts and the polls.

No bills are acted on at this point... the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee (and the Lord Governor) was made aware of approximately 4,000 Marylanders (representing potentially millions) who are firmly against their anti-gun propositions.

Thanks for being a part of history. Stay tuned, and we'll make some more together.

As far as I'm concerned, what should have been learned on the 6th that it's time to stop arguing about the principles of liberty and constitutionally-protected rights with these power elites.

Those of you who were lucky (is that the right word?) enough to mingle with these senators/committee members or testify should know what we're up against.

We need to seriously convince and encourage every supporter of liberty (not just gun rights) to bombard these @$$holes with letters and phone calls until they either change their position based on the number of their constituents that are opposed to this garbage. If they don't change their positions, we will make it clear that there will be an overwhelming push to get them out of office.

We have been preaching to the choir for far too long, in my opinion. Time to stop chatting amongst ourselves about how ridiculous all this crap is and sound the alarm, get 10, 20, 30 or more of your friends/family to act.

I think a difference may have been made for the few (if there are any) who may have barely gotten in this last election and are worried now about the next one. For those who know they are safe it most likely had no effect although they may have some concern about loosing those few members if they pass it as is. Of course as always I could be wrong.

Our protest persuaded Martin O'Malley to set his political apparatus in motion to further marginalize us as pawns of the NRA and also to utilize existing bureaucratic licensing and registration records to attempt to drive a wedge between us by lying to hunters and other sportsmen that they will be spared along with their children.

Oh yeah, the Newtown Choir will be singing at the Grammy's as the gun-banners continue to exploit the deaths of children for their totalitarian goal of a Liberal-Socialist Progessive utopia.

The boot is on your neck.

Keep those cards and letters coming.

The 6th along with the steady pressure is to convince them that these are voters they're dealing with, that they have friends and family they are talking to and that if you have several thousand people descending on Annapolis on their own time telling you that this is not desired, how many more votes out there does it represent?

Yes, they can ignore us. They do so at the peril of their jobs. Some may feel safe to defy the desires of their constituents. That is what the 6th represented. A public cross-section of Marylander will. They may not agree with you and may even hate you and want to do what they want Turner-style, but they will see the risk in doing so.

The pressure may tell them "Now is not the time.". Just like the previous times. They may put the bill back in the drawer and not hold a vote.

The question is: How many of the State-level reps are willing to risk their jobs to help further O'Malley's national desires? He isn't facing re-election. Or angry constituents with the power to make him unemployed.
