I rocketed my Omega silencer about 100y down range after a baffle strike while doing some 1000+ yard shooting. I also got a faceful of metal shrapnel, but luckily nothing that broke skin.

Doing a post-mortem investigation, the locking pawl on the Omega QD mount was very loose and wasn't keeping the supressor locked tight against the taper any more. For reference, this supressor is about a decade old with a serial number in the three digit range and has seen tens of thousands of rounds from many different calibers, and everything from short 5.56 SBRs to 6.5 CM gas guns.

Every single baffle was struck by the bullet, the front end cap was blown out, and as already mentioned, the QD mounts locking pawl was no longer working.

I called SilencerCo, was given a RMA number and sent it in for repair. I received UPS notification that it arrived at SilencerCo. Then 4 hours later received another UPS notification with a tracking number headed back to me from SilencerCo.

I was dissapointed since it obviously was being returned as unrepairable. Nope, it was legitimately a 4 hour repair and re-ship. SilencerCo re-cored the tube, replaced both threaded end caps, and gave me a new (and updated) QD mount. No charge for the repair. And yes, I am sure the outer tube is still the original, as evidenced by the heat discoloration and melted on remnants of one of my rifle cases (oops).

I have a few other SilencerCo supressors, and will definitely be sticking with the brand for future purchases after this experience.

I wonder what would happen if the tube was damaged? Would they be able to give you a new tube with the original serial number and destroy the damaged piece? Or would you have to go through the process again, pay $200 and wait?

Same thing happened to me with my Specwar. About 8 years ago. I mailed it and it was back in my hands 5 days later.

    I always recommend Silencerco

Same thing happened with my Advanced Armament 7.62mm suppressor due to it being loose as described. They rebuilt as new at no cost to me. I’m scared to death to shoot out of now though because as mentioned my locking pawl remains loose. When I spoke to Advanced Armament they said they are engineered that way to compensate for the amount of carbon that builds up on my muzzle threads? I didn’t argue with them but I call bull sh*t on that one.

Is there a thread tape I can put on my threads that will withstand the heat and keep the suppressor tight?

That is impressive. I've waited longer on hold to talk to someone in customer service before with other companies.

Don't know and I hope I never have to find out.

Wow, that is great customer service. Most of my cans are from SilencerCo, so I am really glad to hear about your terrific experience. Just in case I need to contact them sometime in the future.

The only semi-negative experience I ever had with SiCo's customer service is when they wanted me to pay to ship a new Maxim 9 back to them that was light-striking. I told them no, they can pay to fix their defective product, and they took it back for free. That problem took a couple trips to fix, but it's 100% with Fed primers now, so I just treat it like a revolver in that regard.

All the other fixes were pretty fast and painless. I had a Sparrow that was having some accuracy issues and a BOGO-era Chimera that had a faulty mount (which I discovered when it had a baffle strike).

I had a similar experience with SiCo. Launched a Specwar due to not tightening down all the way, purely my fault. The bullet hit a couple baffles and the end of the tube. They fixed it and I had it back in a week. No charge.

Well I am glad they are awesome, I have Silencerco Specwar 556k as well….

Funny because I had to send my Gemtech Mist back to Gemtech. I sent it in June and last friday I sent them a email asking for a status update. Well, no reply. But on Monday I get a shipping confirmation from FedEx. My suppressor was returned with a note “no repair needed”… I was going to flip out, well I unscrewed the shroud and that was what was needed. Lesson learned. I also have a Gemtech Tundra so I am hoping that never needs repair. Happy shooting!

I use Griffin Taper Mounts on my AR cans. I rockset them on and they act as a muzzle brake when the can is removed. Not cheap, but they actually tighten when shooting. Never had one come loose by itself.

The end of the tube was damaged on my Specwar. It appears they fixed the tube. You have to look really close to see it.
