    Anyone know how much Clays powder I will need to load 1000 12ga shells. I will be using 1oz of #8 shot and probably Gun Club hulls since they are easy to come by. I hope it is not over 5lbs. I dont what to have to make two trips to the store to be legal.

    Clay powder 1oz shot, Win AA hulls, this is approx. only use as reference for purchase not reloading....
    low end charge 16.0 gr 2.39 lbs
    high end charge 22.0 gr 3.14 lbs

    5lbs. = 2186 approx. @ 16.0grs
    5lbs. = 1590 approx. @ 22.0grs
    7,000 grs = 1lb

    Thanks Rock,
    Do you know of a good place to buy Clays around Waldorf? I heard Greentop down by Richmond is a good place but that is a long drive. Fuel cost might make up the difference in price between there and somewhere closer that cost more.

    Thanks

    Dick's Sporting Goods in Waldorf should have them. Sometimes you get some pretty good deals from them.

    Maryland Reload-R in Pomfert, Maryland. Bob, the owner may seem a little off when you first meet him, but he's a good guy. Give him a call he will have Clays powder in stock. (301) 934-6213

    In the odd chance he is out, P.G. Trap and Skeet will have it.

    Oh and Welcome to the forum.
