Where do Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Lee fit into the scheme of things? Or don't they?

They voted no, but was essentially pissing in the wind.

Oh boy, now Durbin affirms the dump with the report on the oath-offenders.

The vote for cloture passing isn't necessarily the death knell of our rights, but probably just speaks more to the split between the 'new' Republicans and the old guard. Reid personally thanked McCain for his help in preventing filibuster.

As was mentioned, there are many Republicans who are at least claiming to vote against the bill, but didn't want to suffer through a filibuster to do so, but we'll see where they're all at in the end of course.

We must contain this atrocity to the Senate. It's over in that chamber.

Republicans in blue or purple states may well have voted for cloture, especially if the NRA isn't strong back home. It allows them to run to the center back home in the general elections,

Does anyone have an actual copy of the Toomey/Manchin amendment?

I am curious to know how the requirement of background checks for "internet" sales works. It is already true that internet sales between states are generally sent to FFLs, who then run checks. So what internet sales don't end up running background checks? Just in-state ones where the people end up meeting in person? It's confusing to me how this could work. Does the bill also explain how private sellers on the internet or at shows are supposed to run the checks, and who will pay for it? And I'd like to see the language on interstate transport, which Toomey says expands gun transport rights to clarify for example that overnight stays and fuel/food stops are legit. But I can't find any link to the actual language.

Nobody does at this time. Mike Lee got up and told everybody that it was stupid to call a vote on a bill that they hadn't even read yet, but I guess because it was just for cloture, nobody cared.
