Hello, first post here so not sure if this is the correct forum to post in but here it goes:
I'm looking to sell my Glock 19 G5 and I'm confused how selling goes in this state, do I have to ship from an FFL to another FFL or can I ship using UPS/FED EX/USPS to an FFL?
Thanks! Apologies if this is the wrong forum

The law allows you to ship it directly to an FFL only you must use UPS or Fedex and not the USPS. You have to follow the shippers rules for shipping handguns.

Another question since this is the first time I've done this, shoulder the buyer tell his FFL to email me all the details? That way I can put it in the package, and use it to ship to him, correct?

    Respectfully, this is incorrect.
You must take a handgun to an FFL to have him ship it to an FFL.
FedEx and UPS are NOT allowing individuals to ship guns or parts.
FedEx and UPS are requiring FFL's to be pre-approved by them in order to ship.
The regulations have recently changed and are available on their websites.

I heard it's also a lot cheaper to ship with an FFL since they can use group, correct?

USPS Should be sued for not shipping handguns. The government is infringing on a right by refusing to facilitate firearms transfers.

I have been saying this for years.

As far as I know, the "UPS and FEDEX Rules" are company policy and are not laws or codified regulations.

    Agree. However:

Democrats hate guns and Republicans hate the USPS (at least the politicians do).

So probably not going to happen

If it is a MD resident to another MD resident, it is easy to transfer at a MD police barracks. It costs the buyer only $10.
This answer is based upon past law. Please check the Maryland State Police website for current information.

    3 Options:

    1) Face to face (both MD residents) through State Police Barracks. This requires two trips to the barracks for both parties since the police will not take possession of the handgun during the 7 day waiting period.
    2) FFL to FFL
    3) Seller to FFL - this used to be very common until the carriers changed their policies. It can still be done via shipmygun.com, but receiving FFLs do not like this method. I called two local ones and they both told me it was "illegal" to do - they were both wrong. I ended up using a 3rd without calling them for "permission". They did the transfer, but were not happy about it.

Number one is only one trip to the barracks. Same deal as an ffl for two MD residents but that’s going to cost $20 to ?
I’ve always received firearms from individuals and really don’t know why some ffls don’t but that’s their business. I think consignment is the easiest and you won’t get top dollar but there’s also no headache. GL

Doesn’t #1 still require 7 day wait after the initial trip to the MSP?

One reason UPS doesn't want to do it is they don't trust their own employees not to steal them. Rather than hire honest people they would rather not handle something that is desirable to thieves.

In retail sales and shipping may be the same...roughly half of all theft has historically been internal.

In #1 , yes two meetings between buyer & seller , but only the first has to be the MSP Barracks.

In early 2019 (pre COVID), I shipped via UPS, 9 handguns and 2 rifles in a secured Pelican case, housed inside a heavy duty cardboard box to an FFL in AZ. I declared the contents and information all IAW UPS guidelines. Now, that may have changed sometime between then and now but it is worth checking out. My .02.
