Do you have a power saw I could come over and use?

I want to shorten the LOP on a Mossberg 20ga with a wooden stock.

I am posting here in the hope of finding a carpentry enthusiast (or even someone with the appropriate power tool) who would let me come over and cut a bit off of my stock.

I live in MoCo, but would be happy to drive a bit farther afield. I anticipate that this would be a quick in-and-out operation, and I would do whatever possible, e.g., mark the cut beforehand, to minimize the imposition on the person who was helping me out.

    Cheers!

I have a shop in Rockville. I'm there most days. Give me a PM if you don't get any offers.

Don't do it. Don't go somewhere that a clown is inviting you to come over. Haven't you heard of that movie "It"?

Be very care of a clown bearing gifts. ;)

True, clowns are creepy, but wear your lucky red underwear or something.

I've done several on a miter saw, but the setup to get it right, propping and shimming the stock to have the butt at 90 degrees, and the angle of the cut relative to the comb, takes time and a more than luck. You need a very good blade with fine teeth.
Plus, the new pad or old buttplate will require grinding to fit. That's harder than making the cut. Have to tape the stock to protect the finish then complete the job by hand sanding to get a good fit.
There's a bunch of videos on Youtube that make it look easier than it actually is. You don't want it to look like Bubba did it in Grandma's kitchen.

If you mess up the stock cut, you can always replace it with a spade handle.

I have spade handles...just in case. I keep a running stock... you know, down in my crawl space.

    ;)
