Had the opportunity to exercise a CPX-2 . An economical pistol with reputation for functionality . With the Caveat of using new to it magazines .

Good News - When it goes bang , has aacceptably decent trigger , and does what a subcompact 9mm would be expected to do .

Good News ( tongue in cheek ) - Lots of good training for malfunctions .

Bad News - Never went Bang three times in a row . Sometimes three consecutive malfunctions in a row .
    ..
    Conclusion - ( Incomplete)

Trying it again with exclusively factory OEM mags , might be worthwhile . As tested . it's kind of small and hard to hold on to as an Impact Weapon .

No , I was not limp wristing . Yes , with FMJ .

    They have a bad reputation.

    Walk away.

On the other hand, I've heard good things about the Diamondback 9s, although I'm not too sure about their longevity.

I had a SCCY CPX2, I had feeding issues with any ammo I tried - and i tried many different brands and I recall that the round count got to about 1200. I used factory magazines exclusively. I also had an issue of the frame pins walking out and the screw for the rear sight was frozen and I stripped it and had to drill it out.

I contacted SCCY. They wanted to take a look at it. I shipped it back on their dime. A couple of weeks later they sent me a new pistol and the replacement has been very, very good. There were a couple of failures to feed in the first box or two of ammo. It has been flawless since with both hollow points and FMJ ammo. I have carried this little gun perhaps a thousand miles while running and many miles in the bike bag. I still have that gun and I had it out a couple of weeks ago and it ran just fine.

Shooting the SCCY is borderline unpleasant. For me a SIG P365 that is sized similarly is much more comfortable to shoot. The trigger is very long, very smooth and the reset is also long - very much like a double action revolver.

I now run a Galloway Precision recoil rod and extra power recoil spring but it functioned ok with the factory parts. I have used the usual bullet weights: 115, 124 and 147. I am currently using 147 Federal HST for carry ammo.

The replacement SCCY has performed very well and has held up to many hours bouncing in a belly band while running and has had no issues with rust due to sweat. It has also ridden many miles in a bike bag.

Contact SCCY and see if they can make it right.

My DB9 Gen 4 has gone through a couple of thousand rounds of all sorts of ammo with no issues. It has steel in all the right places and shows no signs of loosening up.

    It wasn't mine , it was a fellow MDS'er's .

My legacy 9mm polymer subcompact runs 100% with everything , and will adaquately do any I reasonably expect from one .

Littlefoot44's gen 1 original Shield does have nicer trigger , and easier to shoot small groups .

I've had one for a couple years and it's been 100% reliable. It's not my go to choice for everything, but it serves it's purpose well if I'm wearing sweatpants or shorts without the option for a belt since it's so light. My only issue is that my pinky gets pinched in between the frame and mag. Other than that, it's been a great little gun.
