    Alright,
So I know about the 29" OAL thing. I'd like to SBR an M4E1 lower for a dedicated straight-pull .300 build. No gas system at all. However, it's an AR lower. How would you describe it when filling out the form 1, so they just don't assume it's an AR that won't meet the 29"?

Don’t hold me to this but call it an AR and put the OAL as what it will be complete. I SBR’d an M4E1 300BO with a 10” barrel. I’m in the process of building another that will also likely be an SBR. No concerns from noted, they just want to be sure the length is the state regulated 29” overall

But the 29" only applies to semi-auto, which this isn't. Just put 29" anyway?

    SBR the upper instead.

ETA: If it will be impossible to fire without manually cocking it, You should be fine. I would call their NFA brach and ask how to proceed so you don't waste a lot of your time with denials.

Ah...lol. There we have it. And yep. Manual only. Using a Lantac upper/BCG and Solo 300 barrel. No gas system at all.

Just called. Guy was very nice. Said to put in the actual length, but then in the description "be specific and dumb it down"
