I am seriously thinking of purchasing a Savage 99e. This one is in .300 Savage. It is older and has no round counter. Thoughts? Does anyone have experience with this model and caliber?

Collectors/Savage 99 fans usually turn up their noses at 99E's because of their (usual) birch stocks and lack of round counter. That doesn't hurt its usefulness at all and usually means you can pick them up cheaply. Good honest deer rifles, and if you can't get it done with a .300 then you probably won't with any other caliber. Grab it!
