Savage Model 430 12 gauge

My uncle called me this weekend and asked me to stop by and pick something up. I get there today and it is a Savage 430 12 gauge. It is a beautiful shotgun. Anyone have any info on them? My google-fu has failed me on this.

The Savage 430 was exactly the same as the Savage 420, but with a checkered walnut stock and solid rib. It was manufactured between 1937 and 1943. Single trigger models can be worth up to $600 in excellent condition, double trigger models about $50-75 less.

Well, it was My Uncle's Dad's gun, who was a salt water cowboy and lived in Chincoteauge. Frankly I was honored.

What gauge is she?

Most likely she has 2.75" chambers. Savage/Stevens guns are built like tanks, so I can safely say any modern load is okay.
