I’m thinking about picking up a Smith and Wesson ultimate carry revolver in 32 H&R mag.
Has anyone seen any of these revolvers at a gun shop in Maryland? The Closer to Frederick the better, and an IP would even be better.

You want to go with 32 H&R Mag but not 327 Federal Mag? The 327 will shoot 32 H&R mag out of it no problem. I’ve been eyeing one up myself, but a new caliber in my mix is giving me pause.

They don’t make the ultimate carry in 327. I wish they would have. I’ve thought about getting a Ruger LCR in 327, but I like the J frame better

    Yeah, I think I'd go 22WMR myself and even that's a stretch.
The already not so great trigger pull is even worse in the rimfire revolvers.
From my understanding the performance of 32 H&R is pretty close to standard pressure 38 special. You also get 6 shots of 32 in the same size cylinder you’d get 5 in if you went with 38.

I carried one as a backup gun in the 90's. It was made of scandium and was pretty light. If I still had it, I would have the cylinder re-chambered to Federal .327 Mag.

Well, if you want a new one, only a dealer who is a Lipsey's dealer will be able to get one for you, since it's a Lipseys exclusive. So start there (?). And if you see one, have cash in hand. A friend saw one at Nations Gun Show and was literally a half-step slow and missed out on it.

I want one of these in a terrible way!!!

Would it have to go to the handgun roster board?

Elmer Keith stated that .32’s killed better than .38’s on raccoon. Take that for what it’s worth. The man shot a lot of critters with a lot of calibers. I’d trust that info. 327 Fed Mag would be excellent but I also wouldn’t sneeze at a .32 for a backup or alternate defense handgun if a J frame is the flavor of choice.

If you want a 332 Ultra lite or the 632 Air Lite, they are both on the roster.
I believe the new ultimate carry is on the list.
It’s basically a upgraded 632 air weight. It has dovetailed front and rear sights, VZ grips that let you get a higher grip, a better trigger, and titanium roll pins in the frame, instead of the normal aluminum ones.
MSRP is $760, so it’s cheaper than the used 632’s on the market.

I may have the name wrong. It may be Air Weight on the roster and my bad short term memory turned it into Air Lite.

Was the one that your friend saw, a .38 special?

I picked up one of the .38 Special 642UC’s from Ballistic Outdoor Supply (newer IP) last week.

Pretty nice revolver, my first J-Frame. Shot about 100 rounds of .38 and .38+P out of it. It’s got quite a bit of recoil to it, but it’s manageable unless you’re shooting heavy loads.

I would’ve preferred the .32, but figured the ammo selection and prices are better with .38 Special so I semi-impulse bought it as a backup gun.

    Where they send me.
It is on the handgun roster, I just bought one in 32. Very happy with it!

I have a press set up just to do 32's as I really like them so ammo isn't an issue. The 327/32mag debate is interesting but they didn't make it in a 327 so 32mag does me fine.

I prefer the 327 in longer barrels where I can get more velocity out of them. SP101's or Single Sevens, or better yet a Henry rifle.

Lipsey and S&W really upped their game with this one! I do wish the trigger was a bit lighter but that may get a bit better in time and dry firing.

Taurus does have a 327 out now if you really want that option. I would take the Lipsey version over it every time though even at about double the price.

Put Hogue rubber grips on it for shooting at the range. It makes for a more comfortable outing.
