i schlepped down from NoVa to richmond to a glock LE dealer (town police supply) and bought my first handgun thru the gssf discount program, glock 32(357sig mid-size) gen 4 (no pics but they all look the same, right...).

on the way, stopped at green top hunting & fishing which i heard about thru mds. wow does that place have an absolute ton of firearms, ammo, hunting, fishing, etc stuff!! I'd say easily more than any bass pro, cabelas, gander, and certainly dicks, etc that i've been in, even though the store is much smaller.

the reason i got the g32 was that i have a g33 (357 sig, their smallest size) that i finally decided is just too small, even with pearce grip extensions, for my not-that-large hands.

i wanted to trade in the g33 but they gave me a very low price, but a customer overheard and he ended up buying it from me (face to face, outside the store) so that worked out great. he had license and ccw, etc so i was very comfortable.

so 6 hours in the car, but got rid of one gun i didn't want anymore and got one i do want and will use (carry).

so in va you can do handguns face to face, no paperwork..same as we do long guns up here?

yep, 'it's all good' down here in the commonwealth. open carry, concealed carry, cash and carry, 30+ round mags, FTF, etc.

i didn't move from md to va because of the favorable firearms environment, but i'm sure glad i did.

we can even buy sub guns, suppressors, etc with no paperwork.

ok, i was just kidding about that last part...

We can do it here in NC as well. Traded 2 shotguns for a .38 Special revolver once in a Hardee's parking lot. Went inside and had lunch with my new wheelgun on my hip.

Ive got family in high point...i could change my address and thought about doing so. My only gripe with NC is their law on dogs. A few "dangerous" breeds if found or even turned in are instantly signed up to be put down. No chance to be taken home or adopted. I have a breed from that list so NC kinda let me down
