Hot air balloons are getting bad press today. Skydiving, yes, but there's a lot going on and requiring attention in a short amount of time. I once wound up dangling from a tall tree in NC after a malfunction, and had to be cut out of it. Embarrassing. But lucky.

How about a big boomerang with a magazine taped to it. You throw it over the border and your friend catches it. Technically you threw it over the border, it just, oddly, came back over state lines.
