It's an "okay" show. Nothing great. About 4-500 tables.
Watch out for BATFE "buy stings". They're really common down there.
Basically, they watch private sales or dealer tables, and watch how much money changes hands on a long gun buy. Then they have a undercover agent or confidential informant (rat) follow the new owner discretely, then bump into them in a few minutes and ask if the gun is for sale. Wihtout pasuing for an answer, they'll offer $100 or more than what the guy just paid a few minutes ago. If the offer is accepted, they get arrested soon afterwards for selling guns without a license. The reason is the profit from the sale. If they made no money on it, they can't claim it was "doing business". But since they made over $100 profit on it, that's doing business without a license.
I actually saw a local good ole boy-type disrupt one of these stings in-person about 10 years ago at a show in Hampton, VA. He somehow knew and recognized the guy being worked as the rat, and saw him trying to set up a guy who just bought a gun a few minutes before. Started shouting and hollering, big crowd formed, then three guys stepped out of the crowd and walked the Rat outside to a waiting SUV and drove away.
Yep - that shit is REAL. Don't think you ran into the deal of the century when some guy wants to give you $250 for the $100 Mosin you just bought 5 minutes ago. You're being set up like a bowling pin.

Yeah, but they have the Richmond show like 6 times a year, so you're never more than a couple months away from another one.
