I feel like I can't build any more of them purely due to safe room considerations. At a certain point, it's like "I can have X or Y, I physically cannot store both X and Y".

Going through the junque boxes and found some odds and ends...
I'm thinking I'll do a Colt 609 build, any other suggestions?

I wish I had a box of "odds and ends" like that.
Suggestions? I was able to amass the relevant Colt components to construct an XM177E3 (i.e., the [likely] next logical step after the E2)—733 M4 upper, A3 LE lower, six-hole 'guard, "NN" stock with the only non-Colt component: a Griffin Armament moderator:

    Fred,
    Cool toys!
I got to play with a PPsh 43 (1943) that was brought back from Sasebo after WWII, it came out of the Naval School there along with some other pretty neat stuff.
Same person also brought home a Jap. Type 99 lmg from Okinawa.

Fred, I love the XM you have up there. I've always wanted to build one using one of my preban receivers I purchased years ago. Can you email me the parts list and where to locate the parts if it's not too inconvenient for you? I've been out of the AR loop for many years but I still have my building tools.

kingfish: Excepting the Griffin Armament (GA) moderator (which I got from GA) and the Colt magazine (which was purchased at the Chantilly show), everything—Colt Model 733 M4 Commando upper, Colt A3 LE/Military lower, Colt six-hole 'guards and two-position "NN" stock—was found on gunbroker (separate sellers). It's also kitted-out with a Vietnam-era M1A strap (sling) and Colt 3X20 scope (not pictured), which were also sourced from ebay.
    I hope that helps..
