Poor Mosin was in there on consignment, i was not going to buy it at first but since its got a decent bore and a nice blued bolt, i figured id grab it up. SA Marked Finn capture, does still have the original globe sight thought, is that strange? or could it be either or?

Few pics, not the greatest, but here ya go anyway. Dont mind the fat guy on the left. Its not untill you see the big gut you say, Dam i need to lose a few pounds.

That's a nice find. I have one a lot like that but mine has the blade front sight, I'm pretty sure it was either or. The Finns also appear to be fans of the brass capped hand guards. What year is the receiver dated?

Pretty sure this one is a 1943. SA marked on left side.

I actually have a regular MN that i got from SOG when i first started collecting, silver bolt but has a Blade front sight like a 91, But i seem to remember measuring it and it being the right size for a 91/30 . The blade on that one isnt stacked either. pics of it below

The Finn Mosins (91/30s) are about 2/3 globe site and about 1/3 blade site, so the site is correct. If it is a 1943 it would be quite rare, as the Finn captures are usually much older. The stock looks Soviet with prewar sling slots, so if it is 1943 the stock must have been switched at some point.

Geez OCJ, I thought you were done with Mosins - or was that mausers? No, maybe it was SKS's. Darn, I can't keep it straight anymore.

Nice pick up tho. It really needed a good home.

Damn Dave, don't you have enough of those things yet?
Nah John, i had seven regular ones but have sold them over time to fund other rifles, i have two left of the 7 and now added this one. ;)

So ill have some of the year and possibly markings in a little bit. If i wasnt expecting a few guys to come and pick up my old safe any minute id go take them myself but she is about 30 mins away.

I thought i might be done with MN, But Not SKS's, i have several more to fill in the Albanians gaps, still looking for 67,76,77,and a undated for the collection,I have the rest, could use a few more Russians, 49,50,52,55,56 But id settle for a nice 52 to fill the gap i have currently.

I tried buying Mausers in different calibers than 8mm, they just didnt do anything for me. Im happy with the small group i have.
