I watched some old school transformers with my nephew, but he wasn't feeling it.

Its almost all on Netflix streaming. I skimmed through most of the episodes (along with Voltron) it was ok but not as cool as it seemed as a kid.

The problem with megatron was that when you transformed him into a pistol he was out of scale with all of the other characters. In the cartoon he became small enough for the other decepticons to use him as a weapon.

Old? Heck I remember Captain 20 when we only had 5-10 tv channels that would come in over the rabbit ears! Cap 20 was great around Holloween!

Captain Chesapeake was big in my house. We could only see Captain 20 with large supply of aluminum foil on the ends of the rabbit ears. I think we only would get 8 channels.

Lol, we watched it on Netflix. He likes that lame ass Power Rangers crap better

Sorry kid - the Power Rangers are horrible. I remember when the Transformers / Gobots first came out. I was like 10 years old and couldn't wait to get home after school to watch them.

In an attempt to relive my childhood, I bought an original Megatron on ebay several years ago for a ridiculous amount of money. It's displayed in my office. They just don't make toys like that anymore.

No they don't. The various Japanese made Robots, Voltron Lions, etc were top notch w/ a lot of metal parts. I think I still have my old Matchbox / Hotwheels.

That's cool. I've thought about getting some transformers and a Voltron (the one with the lions) as investments. I figure it makes sense to buy them now before a large % of our age group gets a lot of money to burn on stuff like this, then sell when the price starts climbing in a few years when our incomes are higher (pending a collapse of the economy which is likely).

My wife still has her Optimus Prime with the original box from when she was a kid, but she'd kill me if I even thought about looking at it.

I still have mine from when i was kid. I have Megatron, JetFire, the jeep, some of the tape cassette ones, Optimus, Star Scream, and a few more. I played with them but, I always put them back in the boxes which I still have. Are these still worth money? I figured they went up and down with the release of the movies.

Ya you don't want that other voltron the one no one remembers that was outright stupid

Wish I had kept my aerial bots, when I got them I was growing out of toys so they stayed mint and I never threw away boxes. Had the whole set in the superior box.

LOL, I already have that Voltron. We didn't have a lot of money when I was growing up. I had fun playing with it, though.

Seriously I remember being at the local Rite Aid which was the was the closest thing to a toy store my small town had (that and the candy store which had toys as well). They had the Voltrons, the Aerial bots, Constructicons, and Stunticons. I was stupid enough to pick the Aerial bots. Never got beyond Black lion.

They had just gotten in the mega toy packs, no ones parents were suckers enough to buy them but mine. Think they sat there for three xmases on the top shelf.
